What a privilege to be part of this wonderful church family with you. So many exciting opportunities are ahead for us and I can’t wait to hear how God is moving in your lives.

This catalogue is full of opportunities for you to connect with a small group, make new friends, and do life together. From my personal experience some of the best church moments happen in small groups. It is in small groups that the Word of God becomes real, living, and part of life.

In the following pages you will find the offerings at St. James through December. We hope you join us in groups, at events, and in prayer as we grow every day into the Church God has called us to be.

In His Grace,Carlene Barbeau Director of Adult Discipleship813.971.4790 [email protected]

PS- Don’t see what you are looking for? Please email me and I can help you find what you need and get you connected.

Day after day they went to the house of God together. In their houses they ate their food together. Their hearts were happy. They gave thanks to God and all the people respected them. The Lord added to the group each day those who were being saved from

the punishment of sin. Acts 2:46-47 (NLV)

ST. JAMES FRIENDS

WHAT ARE GROUPS?We have 3 kinds of small groups:

• Short-term Studies (small groups): These groups gather with a definite beginning and end to the group. Their focus is on completing a study.

• Ongoing Bible Studies: These groups gather on a regular basis to do Bible study. Their primary focus is the study.

• Life Groups: These groups of no more than 12 people gather to create community. They fellowship, study, and invest in each other’s lives in order to become greater disciples of Jesus Christ. These groups have the goal to incorporate all 5 practices (Connect, Grow, Worship, Serve, Give) into their group. These groups commit to meet for one year.

WHEN DO THEY START? HOW LONG DO THEY LAST? GROUPS at St. James start and stop on different schedules. Some groups are ongoing, and some groups begin and end based on a particular study. All of that information is available on the upcoming pages.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?You can contact the GROUP leader for more information or email [email protected].

IS THERE A COST?Maybe. If there is a required book or workbook, each GROUP member is responsible for that cost. Some leaders provide materials and those groups are free. That information is provided in the following descriptions. When you register, your group leader will give you information on how to purchase your book.

ARE THERE ONLINE STUDIES I CAN FOLLOW? We offer free access to RightNow Media, an online church video library. Essentially, it’s a Netflix for Bible studies with videos for kids, students, singles, parents, and married couples by teachers like Francis Chan and Andy Stanley. All the content can be accessed from a phone, tablet, computer, or television. Go to stjamestampa.org/adults to register.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A BIBLE?We would love the opportunity to bless you with a Bible. Please email [email protected] for a hard copy, or if you prefer a digital copy, you can download the Bible App at www.youversion.com.

IS CHILDCARE AVAILABLE?St. James has excellent Children’s programming and loves the opportunity to invest in your WHOLE family. Childcare is available on Sunday Mornings & Evenings, Wednesday evenings, and during MOPS and CBS programming. Please register at least 24 hours before a class so that we can make appropriate arrangements.

St. James is dedicated to growing & engaging young adults in practical ways. Our Velocity Youth ministry gets “real” with students grades 7-12 by addressing the issues of day-to-day teenage life through solid programming and exciting group discussion. Based on Philippians 3:14, we’re “off running, and we’re not turning back.”

Sundays | 6:30-8:30 PM Students (grades 7-12) gather to experience awesome games, great food, music lead by their peers, relevant messages and more! This time also includes small groups for students by grade level.

Special Connections provides individuals of any age impacted by disability an appropriate and supportive environment to enrich their spiritual, social, and emotional needs. Accommodations are available during our 11 AM service hour, which provide those living with disabilities the opportunity to worship in community and learn about the love of Christ. Individuals with disabilities are first individuals and though they may have a greater variety of needs than any programming schedule could accommodate, St. James is committed to overcoming whatever barriers are between you or your loved one being fully a part of our church family.

GOD’S PARTY (preschool-elementary)Sundays | 11 AMThis structured curriculum provides an environment that fosters success and celebrates God’s love for all of us through song, Bible stories, and more.

THE “JOYS” SUNDAY SCHOOL (middle school and older)Sundays | 11 AMThis class provides exciting, adaptive curriculum that teaches about God’s love. Joys takes place after attendance in “typical” worship service.

FRIENDZONE (ages 6-12)2nd Saturday every month | 10 AM-1 PMThis three-hour special needs respite program provides a social experience for kids and a time of rest and refreshment for parents and caregivers. Through art, music, games, pets and other activities, children enjoy a fun and safe event facilitated by trained and background-checked adult and youth volunteers.

“JOYS” ADULT PROGRAMMING2nd Friday every month | 7-9 PMThe first hour includes worship with great music, typically provided by our Joys Chorus, and a practical biblical message. The second hour is purely social where guests enjoy games, dances, movies, and more! Attending both hours is not necessary to be part of the Joys experience.

We can’t imagine being the church without our friends with disabilities and the gifts they offer. Special Connections is a ministry that says two important things about what St. James believes. One, that each person is beloved by God and uniquely equipped for God’s mission for the church. Two, that sharing the Gospel can’t be separated from sharing life together. 1 Corinthians 12:27, Thessalonians 2:8
