Therefore, brothers and sisters, select from among yourselves seven men of good standing, full of the Holy Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint to this task, while we devote ourselves to prayer and to serving the Word.” What they said pleased the whole community, and they chose Stephen, a man full

Peace be unto all. Singers: And to your spirit. Priest: The reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Mark. Singers: Glory to You, O Lord, glory to You. Priest: Let us attend. IN THOSE DAYS, Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the council, who was also himself waiting for the Kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate wondered if Jesus was already dead, and summoning the centurion, Pilate asked him whether Jesus had been dead for some time. When he learned from the centurion that He was dead, Pilate granted the body to Joseph. Then Joseph bought a linen cloth, and taking down the body, wrapped it in the linen cloth, and laid it in a tomb that had been hewn out of the rock. He then rolled a stone against the door of the tomb. Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where the body was laid. When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint the body of Jesus. And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they

went to the tomb. They had been saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, Who was crucified. He is risen, He is not here. Look, there is the place they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples, and Peter, that He is going ahead of you to Galilee, there you will see Him, just as He told you.” So they went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten, begotten of the Father before all ages. Light of Light, True God of True God, begotten, not made, of one essence with the Father, by Whom all things were made. Who for us men and for our salvation came down from Heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man. Priest: With these blessed powers, O Master Who love mankind, we also cry aloud and say: Holy are You and Most Holy, You and Your Only-begotten Son and Your Holy Spirit. Holy are You and Most Holy, and magnificent is Your glory, for You have so loved Your world as to give Your Only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. When He had come and fulfilled for us the entire plan of salvation, in the night in which He was betrayed – or rather, gave up Himself for the life of the world – He took bread in His holy, most pure, and blameless hands, and when He had given thanks, and blessed it, and sanctified it, and broken it, He gave it to His holy disciples and apostles, saying, “TAKE, EAT: This is My Body, which is broken for you, for the remission of sins.” Singers: Amen. Priest: And likewise, after supper, He took the cup saying, “DRINK OF IT, all of you: This is My Blood of the New Testament, which is shed for you and for many, for

Singers:

The angel cried to the Lady full of grace, “Rejoice, O pure Virgin. Again I say, Rejoice. Your Son is risen from His three days in the tomb. With Himself He has raised all the dead. Rejoice, all people.” Shine! Shine! O new Jerusalem! The glory of the Lord has shone on you. Exult now and be glad, O Zion. Be radiant, O pure Theotokos, in the resurrection of your Son. Ангел вопияше Благодатней, “Чистая Дево, радуйся! И паки реку: радуйся!
