    Christmas masses--$3064.00 December 26 & 27– $2062.00

God Bless you for your generosity!

Guidelines to follow at St. John Neumann Parish

Congregants should plan on restricted seating, a change in the

reception of Communion in order to ensure social distancing, and

other appropriate measures upon entering and exiting churches.

The dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday

Mass remains in place. All who are especially vulnerable

or simply uncomfortable attending a public Liturgy are

encouraged to remain at home and if possible, view Mass

via live streams, which will continue in local parishes.

If you are SICK, stay home and limit your contact with

others. Please be concerned about others.

*Never Forget Sanitizer and Mask when you come to Church*

Parishioners should bring and be prepared to wear their own masks

and, a bottle of hand sanitizer for use upon entering, before receiv-

ing Communion, after receiving Communion, and after exiting the

    church.

    *********************************************

    Parish offices will be closed

on January 6th & 7th Will reopen on the 8th.

    Sorry for inconvenience

    Today’s Readings:

    Isaiah 60: 1-6 Ephesians 3: 2-3a, 5-6

    Matthew 2: 1-12

Every Epiphany we hear the endless extent of God’s goodness. Isaiah tells of the light shining forth from Jerusalem attracting peoples from near and far, from land and sea. The psalmist sings of eternal justice

and peace leading all nations to adore the Lord. Paul teaches the Ephesians that they, and all Gentiles, are members of the same body of

Christ. Matthew writes of the magi from afar being drawn to the newborn king by the light from above. Let us look for that revelatory

light that draws us more fully to the Lord.

    Next week’s readings: Isaiah 55: 1-11 1 John 5: 1-9 Mark 1: 7-11

    *************************************************************

On behalf of the parish community, I would like to thank all who contributed to the Advent and Christmas liturgies. The

sacristans (changing the liturgical colors), the decorating groups (inside and outside),

the flower ladies, and the musicians who provided the seasonal music that so

enhanced our masses. It is truly a blessing to serve this parish community and worship

with you. My continued prayers for a healthy and Happy New Year!

    Blessings, Fr. Johnson

PS. Also I need to mention that the parish is thankful for all who continue to mail in their collections or go online to contribute to the health of the parish. As one could expect it takes a lot to maintain the campus buildings

of St. John Neumann parish. Thank you.

    Epiphany

Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Epiphany. The Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord Jesus Christ is one of the oldest Christian feasts, though, throughout the centuries, it has celebrated a variety of things. Epiphany comes from a Greek verb meaning “to Manifest”, "to Reveal," and all of the various events celebrated by the Feast of the Epiphany are revelations of Christ to man.

Epiphany means manifestation. What the Church celebrates today is the manifestation of our Lord to the whole world; after being made known to the shepherds of Bethlehem He is revealed to the Magi who have come from the East to adore Him. Christian tradition has ever seen in the Magi the first fruits of the Gentiles; they lead in their wake all the peoples of the earth, and thus the Epiphany is an affirmation of universal salvation. St. Leo brings out this point admirably in a sermon, read at Matins, in which he shows in the adoration of the Magi the beginnings of Christian faith, the time when the great mass of the heathen sets off to follow the star which summons it to seek its Savior.

Epiphany came to mark the end of Christmastide—the

Twelve Days of Christmas , which began with the revela-tion of Christ to Israel in His Birth and ended with the revela-tion of Christ to the Gentiles at Epiphany. This day is set aside by the Church to remember that our Lord Jesus came for all

and not for a select few. The light of Christ illumines all men

and women and must likewise be radiated by all who believe

in him so that more and more people may come to know,

worship, and serve him and thereby share in the gift of

    salvation.

Epiphany is not a one-way process. It must be received and

responded to. We too must “search diligently for the child.”

God continues to send out His message and His love, but if

we do not listen, do not respond, then Epiphany is not

    complete.
