Respect Life Quote “Throughout salvation history, God has welcomed repentant sinners with special joy. Jesus concludes the parable of the lost sheep with these words: ‘there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance’ (Lk 15:7).” NABRE © 2010 CCD. Dear Parishioners, Updates to COVID-19 Directives Bishop O’Connell has updated the diocesan di-rectives for dealing with the coronavirus. Among the changes include permission to have group devo-tions and parish meetings. See the following for the full set of directives: https://dioceseoftrenton.org/coronavirus Group Devotions We are already praying the rosary at about 7:35 AM Monday through Saturday as we prepare for daily Mass at 8 AM. We have the Miraculous Medal Novena after Mass on Monday. We are starting a holy hour on Fridays at 3 PM. I’ll expose the Blessed Sacrament in a monstrance at 3 PM and do Benediction at about 3:50 PM. In be-tween we’ll have the Divine Mercy chaplet and pri-vate prayer. I’ll be in the rectory at my window for confessions from about 3:15 PM to 3:45 PM. Feel free to participate in the whole holy hour, part of it, or just come to confession outside. Parish Meetings The Rosarians, Knights of Columbus, Cursillo, and St. Vincent de Paul Society are making plans for in-person meetings with virtual participation for people choosing to stay at home. We can use GoToMeeting for people to connect via their computer, tablet, cell phone, or landline. You can connect with video and audio or just audio. We’ve restarted meetings of the Pastoral Coun-

cil, Finance Council, and Staff. Funeral planning meetings with families can be in person. Prayer meetings can take place in the church. Other kinds of meetings can take place in the parish hall or the chapel which has been converted into a big conference room. For all meetings inside we need to wear masks and stay six feet apart. We can’t have refresh-ments. Coronavirus & Social Unrest For the latest numbers see covidactnow.org and www.ochd.org. I pay attention to NJ and Ocean County. We seem to be holding about steady even as we open up more of our society. Let’s pray that we don’t have a second wave. I’m more concerned about the social unrest. So many people don’t seem to know Jesus Christ or His Church. Let’s pray and learn so that we can share the Good News with them. God love you, Fr. Jim [email protected]
