MANUAL HANDLING Overview Manual Handling is suitable for anyone who is employed in industries which include regular physical tasks as part of their job and for people looking to use safe manual handling practices when performing daily physical tasks in their everyday life. This non-accredited course is delivered in a relaxed environment with no assessments, but plenty of hands-on practice for relevant handling and lifting techniques. The topics covered in this course include minimising dangers, identifying and assessing risks, using mechanical equipment, understanding the human spine, exercise for the work place, identifying manual handling techniques and creating a safe work environment. This course has been developed to promote safe manual handling techniques for employers and employees, but also for those looking to maintain good physical health outside of the work place. It is delivered by qualified first aid trainers with specialist knowledge of the human anatomy. Provided Training Materials Personal protective equipment (for use in the course) Pre-requisites Participants with a language or literacy difficulty or other special needs should inform the training support staff or trainers so appropriate assistance can be arranged. St John SA recommends attendance at training on a regular basis to refresh first aid knowledge and skills and confirm competence to provide first aid. Please be familiar with any requirements in your own industry and/or organisation.
