Natural Family Planning Course: Planning a baby or choosing to wait

“Did you know that about half of the people coming to our class right now have been experi-encing difficulty getting pregnant? According to the Gnoth Study, 88% of couples who learn

fertility awareness are able to conceive a baby within 6 months.” For those needing to postpone pregnancy our method has the same 99% effectiveness as the Pill. Get off those unhealthy methods and learn the natural way to plan your family with the Couple to Couple League. Its philosophy is in full accord with Catholic teaching. You learn everything for a lifetime of marital joy. Information is available at www.ccli.org and with

Ed and Betty Coda at 808-256-5085 or Fred and Patti Basilio at 961-2442.

Weekly Reflection: 16th Sunday of Ordinary Time – Cycle B – July 22, 2018

“When He saw the vast crowd…” When you find yourself surrounded by a huge crowd of people like in the mall or the beach, how do you feel? Are you happy and excited by their presence or are you annoyed and wishing they were not there? The Gospel this Sunday challenges us to see in the crowd in a different way – in a way that Jesus was moved by them: “When he saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd.” We are chal-lenged to see in the crowd an opportunity to be Christ-like if only we would provide a space for this crowd to enter our hearts. No different from looking at the people who surrounds us and wonder what is going in their life. This could very well be the door that opens to the path of compassion. Even though Jesus and his disciples were longing for a moment of rest and qui-et, the call to compassion was a summon Our Lord will not ignore. It is something we

must not ignore also. And that voice of compassion can simply be a smile, a listening ear, a warm handshake to tell the other person that we care and will be willing to share the loving presence of Jesus to them.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) Any persons aged 18+ seeking to become Catholic or baptized and desire to complete their sacraments of initiation (Confirmation & First Communion) should stop by the Meet & Greet gathering on Monday, July 30 at
