Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Parishioners and Friends:
“Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were
faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibili-
ties. Come, share your master’s joy!” [Matthew 25:21]
At the end, when we finally meet Christ face to face, isn’t
this what we want to hear? Every time we come to church,
our purpose is to “meet Jesus,” to encounter his living Word
and to face the truth of how we are living in communion with
God, or not. Have I used my gifts and abilities to serve God
or not? But our aptitudes, our talents, are not really our per-
sonal possessions. We forget that they are not ours, but
God’s. They are gifts from God, a treasure beyond counting.
I can use them, abuse them, or bury them as I choose. God
will not force us to use them in any particular way. But he
WILL ask for an accounting.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week, we give thanks
to God for all His gifts to us. Today as we celebrate Eucha-
rist, let us be aware that the Greek word that it comes from,
eukaristein, means thanksgiving [to make a love feast]. We
are invited into a deep sense of prayer, gratitude and joy to-
day that can make this week a continual thanksgiving
through our daily activities, all of which should give God
glory. Let’s find the courage and chutzpah and gratitude to
celebrate the abundance of our life in God!
Questions for the week: How am I investing those talents
entrusted to me by the Master? How have I stretched out my
hands to the poor or given my time to the needy?
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
Your pastor - Fr. Bob Cushing

Domingo Treinta y Tres en el Tiempo Ordinario
Queridos Feligreses y Amigos:
¿He usado mis dones y habilidades para server a Dios o no?
posesiones personales. Nos olvidamos que no son nuestros
propios, pero de Dios. Son dones de Dios, tesoros sin cuenta.
Yo puedo usarlos, abusarlos, o enterrarlos a mi escogencia.
cesitados?
¡FELIZ DIA DE ACCIÓN DE GRACIAS PARA TODOS!
Su pastor - P. Bob Cushing

Word from Pope Francis:
“Let us not forget that the Our Father is the prayer of the
poor. Our asking for bread expresses our entrustment to
God for our basic needs in life. Everything that Jesus
taught us in this prayer expresses and brings together the
cry of all who suffer from life’s uncertainties and the lack of
what they need. When the disciples asked Jesus to teach
them to pray, he answered in the words with which the
poor speak to our one Father, in whom all acknowledge
themselves as brothers and sisters. The Our Father is a
prayer said in the plural: the bread for which we ask is
‘ours’, and that entails sharing, participation and joint re-
sponsibility. In this prayer, all of us recognize our need to
overcome every form of selfishness, in order to enter into
the joy of mutual acceptance.”

Thank You, God
Thank you, dear God, for moments
when we feel deeply grateful;
when thankfulness is not something we have to think
about,
when it wells up in us and overflows,
washes away the bitterness of indifference,
the sting of others’ harsh judgments,
the fear of emptiness,
Thank you, God, for filling from your plenty
the low spots of our experience. Amen.
Gracias, Dios mío
Gracias, Dios querido, por los momentos
Cuando nos sentimos profundamente agradeci-
dos;
Amen.
