Fr. Charlie will lead a weekly Bible Study during the Lenten Season. Two classes will be offered in the church on Thursdays beginning March 2: one will meet at 10:30am, the other at 7:00pm. The material will be the next Sunday’s readings. Everyone is invited.

JOURNEY OF HOPE DIVORCE HEALING PROGRAM

Divorce is so difficult. If you are searching for peace, truth, and hope we invite you on a journey back to a life of promise and peace. Journey of Hope is an 8 week program to help Catholics regain hope from the pain of divorce and separation. Journey of Hope addresses the key challenges brought on by divorce and helps participants recover using principals of their Catholic faith and a deep connection to Jesus Christ, the great healer and restorer of hope.Sacred Heart Cathedral Divorce Ministry will once again offer the Journey of Hope Divorce Healing Program. Over eight Sundays (March 12- May 8) the program utilizes the book Divorced. Catholic. Now What? , The Voices of Hope DVD presentation, and participant discussion to lead participants through the struggles of divorce. Journey of Hope uses the teaching and sacraments of the Catholic Church to transform the loss and tragedy of divorce into life-giving wisdom, sensitivity, and hope.

7 Sacramentos

La vida sobrenatural de la Iglesia se estructura en base a 7 sacramentos de orden sobrenatural.Los que nos ha dejado Nuestro Señor Jesucristo a través de las Escrituras.La definición tradicional de un sacramento es la siguiente: “Un sacramento es un signo visible, instituido por Cristo, para dar la gracia.”Dentro de esta definición hay tres puntos importantes:Un signo visible: Una acción es realizada por un ministro (por lo general un cura).Por ejemplo cuando un bebé es bautizado en la iglesia el sacerdote derrama agua sobre su cabeza y, al mismo tiempo dice las palabras “Yo te bautizo en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo”. Eso es un signo visible.Instituido por Cristo: El Señor Jesucristo dio instrucciones a su iglesia para ofrecer los siete Sacramentos a sus seguidores.Por ejemplo, su directiva a Sus discípulos en el Evangelio de Mateo (28/19), “Id, pues, y haced discípulos a todas las gentes bautizándolas en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo”.Para dar gracia: La gracia es un don gratuito de Dios de Sí mismo para darnos poder y control en nuestra vida y en las decisiones que tomamos una vez que nos hemos comprometido a él con fe.Esta es una forma de informar a los católicos a tener en cuenta a la hora de explicarlos a evangélicos y

protestantes.BAUTISMO-Nos da el nacimiento a la vida divina: nos hace herederos del cielo..Para los católicos, el sacramento del bautismo

es el primer paso en un viaje de por vida de compromiso y discipulado. Si somos bautizados como infantes o adultos, el bautismo es la forma de celebrar y promulgar el abrazo de Dios por intermedio de la Iglesia.El fruto del Bautismo, o gracia bautismal, es una realidad rica que comprende:El perdón del pecado original y de todos los pecados personales.El nacimiento a la vida nueva, por la cual el hombre es hecho hijo adoptivo del Padre, miembro de Cristo, templo del Espíritu Santo.La incorporación a la Iglesia, Cuerpo de Cristo, y la participación del sacerdocio de Cristo.Los pasajes bíblicos que aluden al bautismo son:Mt. 28, 19“Id, pues, y haced discípulos a todas las gentes bautizándolas en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo,”Mc. 16, 16“El que crea y sea bautizado, se salvará; el que no crea, se condenará.”Jn. 3, 5“Respondió Jesús: «En verdad, en verdad te digo: el que no nazca de agua y de Espíritu no puede entrar en el Reino de Dios.»”Hch. 2, 38“Pedro les contestó: «Convertíos y que cada uno de vosotros se haga bautizar en el nombre de Jesucristo, para remisión de vuestros pecados; y recibiréis el don del Espíritu Santo;»”Hch. 16, 15“Cuando ella y los de su casa recibieron el bautismo, suplicó: «Si juzgáis que soy fiel al Señor, venid y quedaos en mi casa.» Y nos obligó a ir.”Hch. 16, 33“En aquella misma hora de la noche el carcelero los tomó consigo y les lavó las heridas; inmediatamente recibió el bautismo él y todos los suyos.”Hch. 22, 16“Y ahora, ¿qué esperas? Pero habéis sido lavados, habéis sido santificados, habéis sido justificados en el nombre del Señor Jesucristo y en el Espíritu de nuestro Dios.”Col. 2, 12“Sepultados con Él en el bautismo, con Él también habéis resucitado por la fe en la acción de Dios, que resucitó de entre los muertos.”Tit. 3, 5“Él nos salvó, no por obras de justicia que hubiésemos hecho nosotros, sino según su misericordia, por medio del baño de regeneración y de renovación del Espíritu Santo,”1 Pe 3, 21“a ésta corresponde ahora el bautismo que os salva y que no consiste en quitar la suciedad del cuerpo, sino en pedir a Dios una buena conciencia por medio de la Resurrección de Jesucristo,”CONFIRMACIÓN Fortalece y acrecienta la vida divina: nos convierte en soldados de Cristo.-La Confirmación es un sacramento católico del compromiso cristiano maduro y una profundización de los regalos del bautismo.Es uno de los tres sacramentos de iniciación para los católicos. Con mayor frecuencia se asocia con los dones del Espíritu Santo.La Confirmación perfecciona la gracia bautismal; es el sacramento que da el Espíritu Santo para:– Enraizarnos más profundamente en la filiación divina.– Incorporarnos más firmemente a Cristo.– Hacer más sólido nuestro vínculo con la Iglesia, asociándonos todavía más a su misión.– Ayudarnos a dar testimonio de la fe cristiana por la palabra acompañada de las obras.Los pasajes bíblicos que aluden a la confirmación son:Sab. 9, 17“Y ¿quién habría conocido tu voluntad, si tú no le hubieses dado la Sabiduría y no le hubieses enviado de lo alto tu espíritu santo?”Hch. 8, 14-17“Al enterarse los apóstoles que estaban en Jerusalén de que Samaria había aceptado la Palabra de Dios, les enviaron a Pedro y a Juan.Estos bajaron y oraron por ellos para que recibieran el Espíritu Santo; pues todavía no había descendido sobre ninguno de ellos; únicamente habían sido bautizados en el nombre del Señor Jesús. eterno.”EUCARISTÍA-Alimenta la vida divina.La Eucaristía es el memorial de la Pascua de Cristo, es decir, de la obra de la salvación realizada por la vida, la muerte y la resurrección de Cristo, obra que se hace presente por la acción litúrgica.Por la consagración se realiza la transubstanciación del pan y del vino en el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo.Bajo las especies consagradas del pan y del vino, Cristo mismo, vivo y glorioso, está presente de manera verdadera, real y substancial, con su Cuerpo, su Sangre, su alma y su divinidad.Los católicos creen que la Eucaristía o Comunión, es a la vez un sacrificio y una comida.Creemos en la presencia real de Jesús, que murió por nuestros pecados.A medida que recibamos Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo, también somos alimentados espiritualmente y y nos aproximamos a Dios.La Comunión del Cuerpo y de la Sangre de Cristo:– Acrecienta la unión del comulgante con el Señor.– Le perdona los pecados veniales y lo preserva de pecados graves.– Puesto que los lazos de caridad entre el comulgante y Cristo son reforzados, la recepción de este sacramento fortalece la unidad de la Iglesia, Cuerpo místico de Cristo.Los pasajes bíblicos que aluden a la eucaristía son:Mt. 26, 26-28“Mientras estaban comiendo, tomó Jesús pan y lo bendijo, lo partió y, dándoselo a sus discípulos, dijo: «Tomad, comed, éste es mi cuerpo.»Tomó luego una copa y, dadas las gracias, se la dio diciendo: «Bebed de ella todos, porque ésta es mi sangre de la Alianza, que es derramada por muchos para perdón de los pecados.»”Mc. 14, 22-24“Y mientras estaban comiendo, tomó pan, lo bendijo, lo partió y se lo dio, y dijo: «Tomad, este es mi cuerpo.»Tomó luego una copa y, dadas las gracias, se la dio, y bebieron todos de ella.Y les dijo: «Esta es mi sangre de la Alianza, que es derramada por muchos.»”Lc. 22, 19-20“Tomó luego pan, y, dadas las gracias, lo partió y se lo dio diciendo: «Este es mi cuerpo que es entregado por vosotros; haced esto en recuerdo mío.»De igual modo, después de cenar, tomó la copa, diciendo: «Esta copa es la Nueva Alianza en mi sangre, que es derramada por vosotros.»”Jn. 6, 30-35“Ellos entonces le dijeron: «¿Qué señal haces para que viéndola creamos en ti? ¿Qué obra realizas?Nuestros padres comieron el maná en el desierto, según está escrito: «Pan del cielo les dio a comer.»Jesús les respondió: «En verdad, en verdad os digo: No fue Moisés quien os dio el pan del cielo; es mi Padre el que os da el verdadero pan del cielo; porque el pan de Dios es el que baja del cielo y da la vida al mundo.»Entonces le dijeron: «Señor, danos siempre de ese pan.» Les dijo Jesús: «Yo soy el pan de la vida. Pues quien come y bebe sin discernir el Cuerpo, come y bebe su propio castigo.”
