“Blessed are those who have not seen
and have believed.” - John 20-29
Have you ever experienced awe? Awe is commonly
defined as a feeling of reverential respect mixed with fear
or wonder. A moment of awe has the ability to lift us up
out of ourselves and immerse us into something that
causes us to wonder about ourselves, the meaning of life,
and truth. Awe is an experience of connection that links
us to something that is beyond the normal happenings of
life. For us who believe that the resurrected Christ is
present in all of life and the totality of the universe, being
touched by awe can lead us to exclaim, “My Lord and my
God!” Pondering the vastness of God’s presence also
brings us to a profound sense of God’s mercy, which is
the showering of His unconditional love on each of His
daughters and sons. When we internalize this mystery, we
may find ourselves standing in awe once again and feeling
an intense sense of peace.

DIVINE MERCY S U N D A Y
The second Sunday of Easter is the great Feast of Mercy.
Saint John Paul II declared the Octave of Easter as the
Divine Mercy Sunday during the canonization of Sister
Faustina on April 30, 2000 thereby reinforcing the
connection between the Easter Mystery of Redemption and
the Lord’s mercy. The Divine Mercy message is simple, to
continue to ask for God’s mercy, to be merciful to others
and to completely trust in Jesus.
PRAYING THE DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET
Begin with the Our Father, Hail Mary,
and the Apostles Creed.
Using regular rosary beads, work your way around the five
decades with the prayers below.
On the standalone beads, pray: "Eternal Father, I offer you
the body, blood, soul, and divinity of your dearly beloved
Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and
those of the whole world."
On the decade beads, pray: "For the sake of his sorrowful
Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world."
At the end, pray the following three times: "Holy God, Holy
Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on
the whole world." It is typical to conclude the Divine Mercy
Chaplet with the words: "Jesus, I trust in you."

RESOURCES FOR YOU
Pope Francis’ Prayer To Our Blessed Mother
O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey
as a sign of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.
At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain,
with steadfast faith.
You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need.
We are certain that you will provide, so that,
as you did at Cana of Galilee,
joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform ourselves to the Father’s will
and to do what Jesus tells us:
He who took our sufferings upon Himself,
and bore our sorrows to bring us,
through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
We seek refuge under your protection,
O Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test –
and deliver us from every danger,
O glorious and blessed Virgin.
Prayer: https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2020-03/pope-francis-prayer-our-lady-protection-coronavirus.html
Only begotten Son of the Father,
descended from heaven for our salvation …
We believe in you, O Lord
Holy Virgin of Guadalupe,
Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas.
We fly to you today as your beloved children.
We ask you to intercede for us with your Son,
as you did at the wedding in Cana.
Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our nation and world,
and for all our families and loved ones,
the protection of your holy angels,
that we may be spared the worst of this illness.
For those already afflicted,
we ask you to obtain
the grace of healing and deliverance.
Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful,
wipe away their tears and help them to trust.
In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us in the Church
to love one another and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace of Jesus
to our land and to our hearts.
We come to you with
confidence,
knowing that you truly are
our compassionate mother,
health of the sick
and cause of our joy.
Shelter us under the mantle
of your protection,
keep us in the embrace
of your arms,
help us always to know
the love of your Son, Jesus.
Amen.
Prayer by Archbishop Jose H. Gomez of Los Angeles, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (Prayer and image from USCCB)
Today the Church’s proclamation echoes
throughout the world: “Jesus Christ is risen!” – “He is truly risen!”.
Like a new flame this Good News springs up in
the night: the night of a world already faced
with epochal challenges and now oppressed
by a pandemic severely testing our whole
human family. In this night, the Church’s voice
rings out: “ Christ, my hope, has arisen!”
(Easter Sequence). Excerpt from the Urbi et Orbi Message of Pope Francis on Easter Sunday. Full text is available at:

Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry
for having offended Thee, and I
detest all my sins because of thy
just punishments, but most of all
because they offend Thee, my God,
who art all good and deserving of
all my love. I firmly resolve with the
help of Thy grace to sin no more
and to avoid the near occasion of sin.
Amen.
—Traditional version
When unable to receive Eucharist at this time, please pray
Prayer of Spiritual Communion by St. Alphonsus Liguori
My Jesus, I believe that you are present
in the Blessed Sacrament.
I love you above all things
and I desire you with all my heart.
Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
I ask you to come spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you
as if you were already in my heart
and unite myself to you completely.
Please do not let me ever
be separated from you.
