The junior choir took out 1st place singing Do-re-mi & Doctor, Doctor. The Senior choir 3rd place singing One Voice, One Song & People Get Ready. What a fantastic result. Ms Kalos once again has done a fabulous job preparing the choirs for the Eisteddfod. Well done to the choir and Ms Kalos. Dear Parent/s and Guardian/s, Congratulations to the following children who will be making their First Holy Communion this weekend: Aliarna Wright, Liz Stephan, Jeffrin Mathew, Will Hannon, Jorja Warren, Mark Mancarella, Lenny Bishop, Liam Chiappini & next weekend: Christine Denbrok. Please keep them in your prayers. HEAD LICE I guess it is the way you look at a problem… In some cultures not to have head lice is the problem. There is an old Bedouin proverb, referring to head lice, that equates ‘ a deserted head with an ungenerous mind’!! Head lice can be controlled but it takes a systematic approach – follow these steps and remember if you look twice a week using this conditioner and comb method you find a molehill before it’s a mountain. Step1 Comb inexpensive hair conditioner on to dry, brushed (detangled) hair. This makes it difficult for lice to grip the hair or run around; Step 2 Wipe the conditioner from the comb onto a paper towel or tissue; Step 3 Look on the tissue and on the comb for lice and eggs; Step 4 If lice or eggs are found, the child should be treated; Step 5 If the child has been treated recently and only hatched eggs are found, you may not have to treat since the eggs could be from the old infection. There is no need to make a huge effort to clean the entire house. Only the pillowcase requires specific laundering. It is important that we share the accurate information about head lice. There are families at our school that may be having similar problems to you. Accurate information on the treatment and control of head lice is available from the school office. If notices are sent home with your child’s class asking you to CHECK & TREAT please fill in the response section and return it to school. Students in these classes will be checked and parents notified if infestation is present. FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION MASS: This Friday, we are having a whole school Mass at 11:30am over in the church celebrating is the feast of the Assumption of Mary. This provides us with an opportunity to reflect on Mary’s attitude to life. Everyone is most welcome to join us. Unmarried and pregnant, she was able to praise her God. ‘The Mighty One has done great things for me’ was her response to this particular crisis in her life. It was not, ‘This is too much—I can’t take any more’, or some such sentiment. Of course, we don’t know if Mary had any initial fears of what lay ahead. Whatever emotions she may have felt, she was still able to maintain a positive outlook. In our own lives, there are always circumstances when we feel justified in displaying bitterness, crankiness or other negative attitudes. If we reflect daily on our responses to events, then we can emulate Mary’s attitude. After all, we don’t have to do it alone—we have Mary walking with us!

HEAD LICE

I guess it is the way you look at a problem… In some

cultures not to have head lice is the problem. There is an

old Bedouin proverb, referring to head lice, that equates ‘ a

deserted head with an ungenerous mind’!!

Head lice can be controlled but it takes a systematic approach – follow these steps and remember if you look twice a week using this conditioner and comb method you find a molehill before it’s a mountain.

Step1 Comb inexpensive hair conditioner on to dry, brushed (detangled) hair. This makes it difficult for lice to grip the hair or run around;

Step 2 Wipe the conditioner from the comb onto a paper towel or tissue; Step 3 Look on the tissue and on the comb for lice and eggs; Step 4 If lice or eggs are found, the child should be treated; Step 5 If the child has been treated recently and only hatched eggs are found,

you may not have to treat since the eggs could be from the old infection.

Well done to our team who competed in the

Royal Park Netball Tournament on the 31st

July. The girls played 7 games on the day.

They had 5 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw bringing

the team to 2nd overall for the day. Well

done team and to team coach Mrs Charlton

and to the parents who helped out and

ventured down to support the them.

service) for one hour each - from 6:00am - 10.30am. Please

remember that this special morning for Dads is organised and 'staffed'

With only 12 weeks to the fete NOW is the time. Now is the

time for offers of help. Now is the time for offers of PRIZES.

Now is the time to Spring clean the house and send suitable

items to the PARISH OFFICE. Thank you to those who are

already well and truly on board. Just knowing who I have to

call on is brilliant. Great to see a few new parents putting their

hands up too. Ride bands will be on offer to families at St

Laurence’s at a discounted price so stay tuned. Thank you.

Chocolate: We need loads of chocolate for stall game prizes. It

could be frogs, bars, blocks, wrapped chocolates etc. All we

ask is that they are in date as at 30th Nov 2014. If every

family pops a chocolate (that is on special) into their weekly

shopping we could easily have 4000 bars by fete day.

Donations can be handed to the office. If you happen to have a

connection in the chocolate world please contact Sharron on

5664 2226.

TANDEM TRAILER NEEDED: On the Friday, 7th Nov (the day

before the fete) we need a tandem trailer to pick up tarps from Mary

MacKillop College to set up on Friday afternoon. If you can help out

it would be very much appreciated. Please call Sharron on 5664 2226.
