Catholic Church. As Roman Catholics, the

N e w s & N o t e s Natural Family Planning A Natural Family Planning Class will be
held on Sunday, October 6th, from
9:00am to 12:15pm in the Deanery
Resource Center at St. Louis. There is a
$40.00 fee for books and materials. For

Baptism Preparation Class The Baptism preparation class is for
parents who are having their first child
Baptized. The next class will be offered
on Tuesday, September 17th at 7:00pm
in the Deanery Resource Center at St.
Louis. Please call the parish office to
register 812-934-3204.
Adoration Chapel The open hours for the Adoration Chapel
are: Sunday – 12:00pm, 2:00pm,
3:00pm; Thursday—4:00am; Friday –
1:00pm. If you are able to fill an open
hour, call Christy 812-239-9164.
Altar Server Training There will be altar server training for any
child, 5th grade or older, who would like
to be an altar server on Thursday,
September 19th from 3:15pm to
4:00pm in church. Sign up forms are in
the parish office. All current servers are
also welcome to attend if they would like
a refresher course.
Pilgrimage - Save The Date Join us on a pilgrimage
to The Shrine of Christ’s
Passion in St. John,
Indiana on Saturday,
October 5th. We will
begin with Mass at St.
Louis Church at 6:30am.
We will then travel by bus to the shrine.
You will be able to walk or ride the
prayer trail at the shrine. The cost is
$35 per person, meals are not included.

Church History Class Fr. Stan is teaching a class on Church
History. It will meet every other Tuesday,
beginning Sept. 17th, at 1:30pm at the
Prickel Building. All are welcome!

Attention School Parents Festival Week Drop off/Pick up It’s time to set up tents for the festival! The back parking lot will be unavailable
Tuesday, September 10th through Monday, September 16th.
Starting Tuesday, September 11th, please: Drop your children off on Walnut Street
between St. Louis Place and Helene Street. Your children can then walk in front of
the rectory, church and church office to the school. Please do not drop your children
off directly in front of the school. We need to leave this space for busses.
Pick up: Please use the parking lot across from the church. If the tents are down by
Monday afternoon, September 16th, we may be able to use the parking lot west of
the school.
Festival & School Volunteers Anyone who will be volunteering at school or helping out with the festival, Monday-
Friday, September 9th-13th, is asked to park either in the parking lot in front of
church or on one of the side streets. The school children will be using the street in
front of the parish office and school for their recess due to the tents being put up
on the back parking lot on Tuesday. St. Louis Place will be blocked off between
Main Street and Walnut Street during the recesses. Also, all volunteers during
school hours are asked to stop in the school office to sign in. Volunteers who are
helping with selling the soup in the activity center do not need to stop in the office.
Turtle Soup Sale -September 9th-14th Turtle Soup will be on sale this week in the Activity Center Foyer starting Monday,
from 12:00pm-6:00pm, Tuesday, from 8:00am—8:00pm, Wednesday, Thursday
and Friday, from 8:00am-6:00pm,and on Saturday, September 15th, from
8:00am-12:00pm. Please enter through the Activity Center doors only.
FOOD NEEDED! EGGS, POTATOES, ONIONS, CARROTS and SUGAR are needed by Monday
morning. These items are needed for making the turtle soup.
TOMATOES, PEPPERS, MILK and BUTTER should be dropped off on Friday
morning. Please bring all PIES and CAKES to the school cafeteria on Sunday
morning. There will be a PIE and CAKE DROP OFF on the Main Street side of the
school building from 7:00-11:00am on Sunday morning. Look for the orange
cones on Main Street.
FESTIVAL HELP NEEDED—September 9th-13th
Monday and Wednesday at 7:30am to prepare vegetables for turtle soup.
Monday- Friday, September 9th- 13th: Turtle Soup is being made.
Tuesday, September 10th: Tents will be set up - 8:00am-4:00pm and 6:00-
8:00pm. Please come up to school and lend a hand. MUCH HELP IS NEEDED!!
Wednesday- Saturday, September 11th– 14th: Help is needed to carry and
set up booths, tables, etc.–Wednesday - Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm and again
from 6:00-8:00pm, and on Saturday from 8:00am-noon.
Any time you can give to help with the festival set-up this week is appreciated.
Thursday, September 12th: Activity Center will be set up with tables and
chairs beginning at 7:30pm.
Friday, September 13th: NO PARKING on the west side of the activity center.
A dumpster will be delivered for the festival.
Monday, September 16th: Clean up and take tents down starting at 8:00am.
Depending on the amount of help received in the morning, we may need to finish
Monday evening. MUCH HELP IS NEEDED!!

codes (look for them inside the box), The
PTO received $125 last year (the
program started mid year). Each cap or
code is worth 5 cents to 15 cents.
BOX TOPS are Going Digital Download the Box Top app and scan
your receipt from any store within 14
days of purchase and the rewards will be
added to our account. This is a great way
for grandparents to help. Ask them to
save receipts, and the kids can scan
them. SLS received $1800 from this
program last school year!
Volunteer Forms Parents please remember to turn in the
PTO Volunteer Forms (tan or yellow
paper). We ask that each family sign up
for at least two items in addition to
Super Sunday Bingo.
New Partnership/Fundraiser Dierckman
Research, LLC
(Diane Dierckman) is
establishing a local
contact list of
individuals willing to
participate in
consumer research
studies. In return, SLS PTO will receive a
monetary donation for each person that
signs up and also for those people that
participate in projects. Each project
varies from 1:1 conversations, to small
group discussion, expert panels, and
product use opinions. “Opt in” by
opening the camera on your phone and
pointing it on the code below. If you're
not sure "how to do that"--just email us &
we'll be happy to help. Anyone between
the ages of 22-70 years are able to sign
up...even friends and family within a 1
hour radius. We can raise up to $1000
just by people “opting in”!
RCIA The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process we use to teach the basics
of Catholicism to people of other faith traditions who want to learn more about the
Catholic Church. We welcome people of all backgrounds. Our sessions will begin
September 22nd and are held on Sunday mornings from 9:00am—10:30am. If
you have any questions about the process, or would like to sign up for the
program, please call the parish office at 812-934-3204.
Attention St. Louis College Students St. Louis Parish will be sending care packages to St. Louis Parish college students
2x per year. The first package should arrive just before 1st semester finals and the
2nd before summer break. In order to send these care packages out, we are
asking for parents or students to please email addresses to Carrie at
[email protected]. If you have other St. Louis Parish friends or family
members in college and you know their address, please feel free to add them to
the list. Please be sure to include any food allergies so we can be sure to send
them snacks they will be able to enjoy. If the student is commuting to school,
please put their home address.

TriForce Mission Team Trip to East Bank, WV The TriForce Mission Team is open to all current 8th - 12th graders. The 2020
mission trip to East Bank, WV is July 5-12, 2020. The first meeting will be held
September 29th at 4:00pm in the St. Louis School Cafeteria. Mission Trip
