The Return of Easter The return of Easter should be to the Christian life the call of a trumpet. It is the news of a great victory. It is the solu-tion of a great perplexity. It is the assurance of a great tri-umph. —Frederick Temple

Treasures From Our Tradition The Paschal Mystery is the key to our Christian faith: the dying and rising of Jesus that is the pattern of our life. In their first steps on the road of faith, the catechumens feel the cross of glory traced over their eyes, on their lips, across their shoulders, on their ears, over their heart, and on their feet. The mystery is that even death gives way to life for those who are held in the embrace of Jesus. Today, many new Christians arise from the waters of the font. Yet the font is not the des-tination of their journey. The goal is Pentecost, fifty days from now, and a lifetime of praise to the Father, in Christ, in the embrace of the Holy Spir-it, for the sake of the world. “Neophyte,” our ancient word for new-ly-baptized people, means “newly-planted” in Greek. If someone in your parish has just been baptized, wel-come them today. The smiles on their faces and the light in the eyes is a foretaste of heaven.

DID YOU KNOW? Talk to Children About All Types of Strangers Most children know something about stranger danger, but do they know about friendly strangers? Many preda-tors will use tricks to lure young victims such as asking for help walking a dog, offering candy, or pretending to know their parents. No matter how friendly someone may be, children should know that if they don’t know the per-son, they should never go anywhere with them. Give kids simple rules: it’s okay to run away from someone you don’t know, and to shout “no!” or “go away!” if a stranger is talking to you or asking you to go anywhere. To view a kid-friendly video on this topic, vis-it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY7RhBszp0k.

Jesus’ Divine Mercy for Everyone Jesus, I trust in You! Ask for God’s Mercy, Be Merciful to All, Completely trust in God’s Mercy. (From: Divine Mercy in My Soul, #300-301, #699) Jesus says: Proclaim that mercy is the greatest attribute of God. Tell my faithful servant (the priest) that, on this day, he tell the whole world of My great mercy; that whoever approaches the Fount of Life on this day will be granted complete re-mission of sins and punishment. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. The soul that will go to Con-fession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tender-ness. It is my desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after East-er. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy.
