How to Become a
Member of St. Mary’s
There are three easy ways:
1. Attend a New Member Orientation Meeting in the Parish Center Library held the Second Sunday of each month after the 8:00AM Mass.
2. Stop by the Parish Office. 3. If the first two options do not work for
you, please contact Amy Nordloh at 262/654-2698; [email protected].
Being an Active Member entitles you to use various facilities and services including the Church for Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals and other sacra-mental events. Parishioner status is used at the local Parochial schools.
Active Membership in St. Mary Parish
is determined by the following: 1. Faithful attendance at Mass on
Sundays and Holy Days. 2. Regular Support through envelopes
or direct withdrawal system. 3. Participate in one Parish spiritual
program, ministry or organization. 4. For Six months being a registered
member of the Parish. All criteria are subject to
the discretion of the Pastor.
Preparation for Sacramental Celebrations
Infant Baptism: Baptism preparation sessions are held for already registered parish parents for the Catholic commitment they are making for their child. Please contact Sandy Schwalbe, extension 4150. Christian Marriage: Marriages are scheduled for parishioners who have been registered for at least one year. Preparation sessions are set up with one of our deacons, beginning as soon as a couple is engaged to be married, but no later than six months before the marriage date.
Confirmation: Adult Catholics ~ Preparation begins each January. Please contact Corinne Dillon, extension 4157.
Initiation into the Catholic Church: RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation; Please contact Corinne Dillon, extension 4157.
Parish News...Festival Volunteers Needed Festival Electrician – Mr. Ron Hohs has been quietly keeping our Festival lit and powered for many years now. He and his crew of family and friends come through every year setting up the electrical needs which allow our Festival to operate smoothly. During that time, Ron has simplified the setup and clean up to a science. The 2018 Festival will be Ron’s last in this capacity. We are eternally grateful for Ron’s work and are now in search of his replacement. We need an individual or team with electrical experience to come on board this year and work with Ron with the intent of taking over in 2019. Please contact the Festival Committee to learn more at
Festival Prize Purchaser – Our Festival Committee is looking for a new member to come on as our Prize Purchasing Coordinator. Many thanks to Committee member Sheri Stevens for sharing her talents serving in this role. We are in need of an individual to purchase and organize the prizes for games at the Festival. This can be done at times that are convenient to the volunteer over the internet. The parish will provide the financial resources; there are no out-of-pocket expenses. Training is provided in 2018 with Sheri (expert purchaser)
with the intent of taking this volunteer position over in 2019.
Booth Chairpersons – There are several booths at our Festival that are in need of chairpersons. This can be an individual, family, or group of friends. The primary responsibility of a booth chair is to organize and staff the booth. You are asked to set up your booth, arrange for volunteers, oversee the operations of your booth during the Festival, and clean up your booth at the end of our Festival. You are not asked to order or pay for anything and are not expected to live at your booth throughout the Festival. The Festival Committee is there to support you and training for new booth chairs is provided. It is a great way to meet new people and forge lasting friendships, not to
mention help our parish.
Our Mission We are a Catholic community sent forth to visibly bring the presence of Christ to the world around us.

Deacon Wilson’s Wisdom...
LOVE JESUS-STYLE If you listened carefully to
the Scriptures today, you may have noticed that one word was repeated 18 times. It is a word that has been used so often in so many different circumstances that it has al-most lost its meaning. The word is “love.” It is used more than 600 times in the Bible, and literally trillions of times on the Internet. We proclaim our love for everything from God to a wide variety of persons, places and things that we say we love. We write about love, we sing about love, and we pray about love. Jesus had no trouble expressing his love for us. In a world fum-bling to express love, he chose the cross.
Today’s Gospel reminds us that, “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” This expres-sion of love is the great gift offered to us by Jesus, the gift of himself on the cross. Throughout his life, Jesus demonstrated true love. He cured the sick, restored sight to the blind, forgave sinners, wel-comed those rejected by others, raised the dead to life---and then willingly gave the ultimate gift, his life for us.
Many have tried to express their understanding of Jesus’ love for us in words. The famous Doctor of the Church, St. Augustine, expressed what took him so long to learn. “Late have I loved you, O beauty so ancient and so new; late have I loved you. You called and you cried to me and broke in upon my deafness; you sent forth your beam and shone upon me and chased away my blindness.” Poet Francis Thompson in, “The Hound of Heaven” placed these words in the mouth of God: “Ah, fondest, blindest, weakest, I am He whom thou seekest.”
Today’s gospel powerfully addresses the essence of love: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you.” This statement sums up the total of all the gospels and all the spiritual writings and all the church teachings that have ever been produced though the centuries. Jesus is sayings to us, “I love you as an integral, inti-mate part of my own identity. I could not be who I am without you!”
The power of God’s love is ever present among us and con-tinues to pursue us until his persistence overcomes our reluc-tance. It is inevitable! Teihard de Chardin, the great Jesuit theo-logian and scientist, reminded us that “someday, after master-ing the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, on that day for the sec-ond time in the history of the world, we will discover fire.” Whether we choose the words of Augustine, the poetics of Thompson, the prediction of de Chardin, or the love message from today’s gospel, they all affirm what we eventually come to know. God is essentially love, and that means that love is an essential part of divinity.
We too are called to love. We have been given many oppor-tunities to reflect the selflessness that characterized Jesus’ love. Love Jesus-style is present when we…think in terms of another rather than self, joyfully place the needs of others ahead of our own, allow another’s opinion to prevail, apologize regardless of who is wrong, buy less to share more, and replace recreation time with time spent serving others. Love in action reflects the love that exists in the community of believers who take Jesus’ directive seriously, “Love one another as I have loved you.”
~ Deacon Wilson Shierk
