TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME OCTOBER 1, 2017

From the Pastor:October is traditionally observed as the month of the Holy Rosary. This year that devotion takes on special significance as we mark the 100th anniversary of the apparitions in Fatima, Portugal, during which Our Lady urged prayer for the conversion of sinners. One of the three children to whom Our Lady appeared in Fatima understood the phrase, “conversion of sinners,” in a rather expansive way, defining “sinners” as those who had fallen away from the Church or willfully indulged in sinful activity, particularly “sins of the flesh” and “acts of injustice and a lack of charity towards the poor, widows and orphans, the ignorant and the helpless.” That’s a challenge to all of us as we pray the Rosary this month. It also lines up very neatly with the first reading of today’s Mass, which speaks of the sinner turning away (converting) from his sin, that he may live.

Thank you to everyone who attended the information sessions about the new plan to continue the beautification of the interior of our church. By now, everyone who was not able to be present in person should have received campaign materials in the mail. Next Sunday is “pledge Sunday” and we ask everyone to turn in their pledge cards when they come to Mass that weekend.

Sincerely Yours, in Christ,Fr. Thomas Buffer

And, there is nothing you can’t say. It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute in a friendly, open space.

Everyone from 18 to 118 is welcome!
