THE SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JANUARY 14, 2018
From the Pastor:
Dear Friends in Christ,
At last the season of Christmas has come to an end and the Church returns to the liturgical season known as Ordinary Time. Instead of white vestments, the clergy are robed in green. This color reminds us of growth in plants, something that we are waiting for as winter continues. The color green reminds us that the grace of Christ can make all things new, again and again. So, in Ordinary Time, we are constantly reminded of an extraordinary fact.
The Gospel presents us today with Jesus who has reached adulthood and begun His public mission. From the beginning of His mission, He is identified as the Lamb of God. In other words, He will be the sacrificial victim offered to take away the sins of everyone else. In the work of the Church, mission and sacrifice always go together.
Sincerely Yours, in Christ, Fr. Thomas Buffer
