. PARISH SUPPORT UPDATE
The First Collection for March 10th
amounted to $11,285. THANK YOU!
In order to meet St. Matthew’s operating expenses and save for future projects, the First Collection should bring in at least $11,100 every weekend.
Please keep in mind that the First Collection at Sunday Mass funds all operating expenses of your parish, including salaries, utilities, routine maintenance and administrative needs.
2019 Increased Offertory Program: Each year the parish asks its registered households to give prayerful consideration to their weekly support for St. Matthews. Information about the program has been made available in the bulletin, through the mail, and at Mass. Can your household increase its donation to the first collection in the new year? Because of the generosity of many households, St. Matthew’s has been able to expand its ministries and improve its facilities. Please help your parish continue with this progress.

SUNDAY READINGS MARCH 24, 2019
Ex 3: 1-8a,13-15
1 Cor 10:1-6, 10-12
Lk 13:1-9
FROM THE CONFESSION of
ST. PATRICK
“I came to the Irish peoples to preach the Gospel and endure the taunts of unbelievers, putting up with reproaches about my earthly pilgrimage, suffering many persecutions, even bondage, and losing my birthright of freedom for the benefit of others.
If I am worthy, I am ready also to give up my life, without hesitation and most willingly, for his name. I want to spend myself in that country, even in death, if the Lord should grant me this favor. I am deeply in his debt, for he gave me the great grace that through me many peoples should be reborn in God, and then made perfect by confirmation and everywhere among them clergy ordained for a people so recently coming to believe, one people gathered by the Lord from the ends of the earth.”
VOCATIONS “This is my beloved Son, hear him..”
Is our Lord asking you to follow him in tending His flock as a priest, deacon, sister or brother? Write Fr. Michael Isenberg, [email protected] or call (703) 841-2514.

Saint Matthew VBS 2019 June 3-7 9:00 am-Noon
Let us pray
This prayer has 14 stations and is traditionally prayed during Lent. It traces the events on the way to Christ’s crucifixion. The devotion has its roots in the practice of pilgrimage to Jerusalem, especially to sites along the way to the cross. In the fifteenth century, as it became difficult for Christians to visit Jerusalem, the Franciscans began to erect outdoor shrines in Europe to recall these holy places, and in later centuries the devotion took root throughout the entire Church. What is the name of this prayer? Let Mrs. Warren know and win a prize.
Peace of Jesus Christ, Joanne Warren
