CYO Girls Softball St. Matthew and Christ the King to Combine

Teams Spring is coming!...and so is

softball season. C'mon girls, let's

PLAY BALL! Christ

the King Parish is looking for girls in

the 7th and 8th grade (Cadet level) that would like

to play softball with us this up-

coming season. Since St. Matthew didn’t have enough players to field

a team, you still have an oppor-tunity to play on Christ the King’s

team. Practices will begin indoors

after volleyball season and out-

doors as soon as the weather breaks and will allow. Games will

begin just after Spring Break, dur-ing the week of April 8th. The

season will conclude by the end of

May. Practices are typically held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sat-

urdays (indoors at Christ the King’s gymnasium) until the

weather breaks and will be sched-

uled (outdoors) whenever the Chatard HS diamond is available.

Word Mania

Congratulations to the 6th grade for earning 1st place in the nation for the practice round for Word Mania! Students have played many three minute games both in class and at home to build as many words as possible. This week is the official competition, and we are proud of all of their achievements so far! Good luck in the competition to 6th grade and the rest of the middle school!

The Fish Fry is in our gym.

It's time for our Easter Basket Project for the needy! This year, we have exciting news: We have increased the number of bags we will be filling to 1,250 bags.

This means we need 2,500 cans of fruit--so start bringing them into your classrooms. Please be sure to bring in 15-ounce cans of fruit, because other sizes do not fit in the bags. You can donate any kind of fruit--such as pineapples, peaches, pears, and fruit cocktail. The canned food drive concludes on April 11.

St. Matthew Parish is also collecting money to help with the perishable items such as ham and rolls. $20 will pay for one basket, but any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Easter Basket Assembly Day is April 14 after the noon Mass at St. Matthew. Thank you in advance for supporting this important project!

Dear St. Matthew Parents,

Your child should already have received a collection envelope for the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge (which you may remember as Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart.)

Our school has been selected to pilot a new incentive: If we can get half (=210) of our

students to register online, we will be awarded $500 in PE equipment!

Ask your student about Finn and how they can be a heart warrior for kids like him! To get started, visit our school’s website below. By registering online, it becomes easy for you and your donors to raise donations for the mission of the American Heart Association. Your student will pick a health challenge, like drinking more water, getting additional exer-cise, or doing a good deed (and will earn a wristband!)
