St. Michael the Archangel Garland, Texas July 10, 2011 Faith is a gift from God. But like any gift, we must be open to receive it or the gift will not really be ours. To have faith, we must act with faith, that is, we must trust in the One we be- lieve. In other words, we must be willing to be taught and willing to be led. The 3rd Edition of the Mass is an opportunity for us to receive teaching with regard to the Liturgy and to be led into a deeper relationship with our Lord. The new translation will change some of the words we have grown accustomed to hearing, but maybe this small change will renew our experience of Jesus Christ in the Mass. -Father Joseph Sunday, Fifteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time Is 55:10-11/ Ps 65:10, 11, 12-13, 14/ Rom 8:18-23/ Mt 13:1-23 or 13:1-9 Monday, Memorial of Saint Benedict Ex 1:8-14, 22/ Ps 124:1b-3, 4-6, 7-8/ Mt 10:34-11:1 Tuesday, Saints John and Jones and John Wall Ex 2:1-15a/ Ps 69:3, 14, 30-31, 33-34/ Mt 11:20-24 Wednesday, Saint Henry Ex 3:1-6, 9-12/ Ps 103:1b-2, 3-4, 6-7/ Mt 11:25-27 Thursday, Memorial of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Ex 3:13-20/ Ps 105:1 & 5, 8-9, 24-25, 26-27/ Mt 11:28-30 Friday, Memorial of Saint Bonaventure Ex 11:10-12:14/ Ps 116:12-13, 15 & 16bc, 17-18/ Mt 12:1-8 Saturday, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Ex 12:37-42/ Ps 136:1 & 23-24, 10-12, 13-15/ Mt 12:14-21 Saturday 8:00 a.m. SI Martin & Kyumi by Lucy Kim 5:30 p.m. SI Martin & Kyumi by Lucy Kim Sunday 8:30 a.m. SI Martin & Kyumi by Lucy Kim 10:30 a.m. + Kathleen McMillian by Lili Rivera 12:30 p.m. Mass of the People 6:00 p.m. SI Martin & Kyumi by Lucy Kim Monday 8:00 a.m. Father’s Day Novena Tuesday 8:00 a.m. SI Brian & Monica An Wednesday 8:00 a.m. SI Hannah Marie Gaines by mom & dad Thursday 8:00 a.m. SI Martin & Kyumi by Lucy Kim Friday 8:00 a.m. SI Martin & Kyumi by Lucy Kim *Tabernacle Candle is in memory of John Eisenhour by Estrella Eisen- hour Weekend Mass Count Contributions 07/04/10 1932 $15,047.00 Electronic $140.00 07/03/11 1816 $15,949.00 Electronic $581.00 SUNDAY: July 10 8:00 a.m. Blood DriveCurran Hall 1:45 p.m. BaptismalsSanctuary 7:00 p.m. LifeTeenLibrary 7:00 p.m. Young Adult FellowshipYouth Room MONDAY: July 11 6:00 p.m. LifeTeen Movie NightYouth Room 6:45 p.m. Boy ScoutsCurran Hall 7:00 p.m. St. Vincent de PaulLibrary TUESDAY: July 12 8:00 a.m. Breakfast of ChampionsCurran Hall 9:15 a.m. Mother’s Day Out—Rm. 110/120 10:00 a.m. Women’s Craft Group—Pit Area 7:00 p.m. Knights of ColumbusRm. 110/120 WEDNESDAY: July 13 12:00 p.m. Catholic Studies GroupRm. 150 6:00 p.m. Bob & WowYouth Room 6:00 p.m. Girl’s Scout Daisy Troop—Rm. 140 THURSDAY: July 14 9:15 a.m. Mother’s Day Out—Rm. 110/120 2:30 p.m. LifeTeen CookingKitchen 5:45 p.m. Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel 7:00 p.m. Spanish Pre-Baptimsal ClassRm. 110/120 FRIDAY: July 15 2:45 p.m. Wedding RehearsalSanctuary SATURDAY: July 16 2:00 p.m. WeddingSanctuary With great joy The Diocese of Dallas Announces the Ordination of Rev. Attention all young adults ages 18-30, singled or married, work-ing or in school, St. Michael’s is starting a ministry just for you! Often this age group slips in the shadows within the Catholic Church and we want to change that. Sunday, July 10th there

will be an “Open House,” after the 6pm Mass in the Youth Room, for all interested in this ministry. This will serve as an informational and introductory social complete with food and

fun. Come, bring your friends and learn more about your faith. We will be answering any questions and would like to know

what you want from this ministry. If you have any questions or would like more information please contact Samantha Silvas in the parish office or by text at 214-597-1292. Find this group on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Young-Adult-
