Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada: An invitation to sup-port the faith and evangelization mission of the Church!
The Bishops of Canada gather in four Regional Assemblies (Atlantic, Que-bec, Ontario and the West), as well as in their national Conference. The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) is mandated by the Holy See and the Bishops who are its members in a number of areas of pasto-ral life and evangelization: faith formation and catechesis, doctrinal ques-tions, ecumenical initiatives, international relations, interreligious conver-sations, liturgical resources, relations with Indigenous Peoples, social justice questions, and building a culture of life and family. The CCCB is the national assembly of the Catholic Bishops in Canada, and includes the Bishops (Eparchs) of the Eastern Catholic Churches as well. Thank you in advance for your generous contribution for ensuring the success of the collection and the ongoing work of evangelization.
The Miramichi Literacy Council’s initial tutor training workshop will be held the last 2 weekends in Sept. Friday Sept. 22 and Saturday Sept. 23, and also Friday Sept. 29 and Saturday Sept. 30. St. James Parish—Sevogle will be having their Annual Fall Supper on Sunday Oct. 1, 2017 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Hot Roast Beef and Pork with all the trimmings and serving Butter Pecan cake with whipped cream and caramel sauce. Adults: $12.00 Children 12 and under $6.00 & take outs are $12.50 each. St. Patrick’s Parish is organizing a reprisal performance of the play “The St. Patrick’s Story 200 years +”, first staged as part of our Parish’s bicen-tennial celebrations in 1996. Saint Michael’s CWL Council will meet on the second Thursday of each month begin-ning September 14 at 7:00 pm. New members are always welcome! A few reminders for the meeting: items for the Christmas Basket are needed; as well as items for the Youth House; and your 2018 dues of $20 is now being accepted. The CWL Fall Retreat “ Inspired by the Spirit, Women Respond to God’s Call” is being held at the Villa Madonna beginning Monday October 16 at 3:00 pm to Tuesday October 17 at 4:00 pm . The regional fall CWL meeting will be held in Doaktown, Saturday, Octo-ber 5. Note the date change. Registration is at 9:30 and the meeting starts at 10 am. Lunch is $10 and it is soup and sandwiches. Please remember there is no refund if you cannot attend. Any allergies please let Maureen know. There will be a discussion on restructuring without the Diocesan level. Any questions contact Maureen at 622-4041.
Parish Pastoral council meeting will be held on Thursday September 28th at 6:30 p.m. this month only. Renovation Collection at st. michael’s will be taken up next weekend at all Masses. Millennium Memorial Wall—In the year 2000 the first millennium board was started and is now complete. A second board has been started. Like the first board, there is enough space to place 54 name plaques. The boards are located on the inside wall at the main entrance to the church on either side of the center aisle. If you have a friend or relative interested in adding a loved ones name on a plaque, please contact Sandy at 778-5150 for further information.
