• St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17th in Ireland
• This holiday has been celebrated in other locations far from Ireland…
• It is also celebrated by people in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
• St. Patrick's Festival in Dublin is a multi-day celebration featuring parades, concerts, outdoor theater productions and fireworks shows.
Symbols & Traditions
• People wear green in memory of Ireland
The Shamrock• All people wear shamrocks in St
Patrick’s Day
• The shamrock symbolizes the rebirth of spring. It has got three leaves but….
• If you find a four-leaf clover you will have good luck.
• Each leaf of a four-leaf clover represents something different:
• First is hope• Second is faith• Third is love• Fourth is happiness.
The Leprechaun• Leprechauns look like a little old man and
are dress like shoemakers wearing a cocked hat and leather apron. They are responsible for mending the shoes of the other fairies.
• It is a widely known symbol of St. Patrick's
• The legend said that fairies pay the leprechauns for their work with golden coins and they collected the coin in large pots called POTS OF GOLD.
• If you capture one he has to reveal you where is his gold hidden!!!
The Rainbow
• Supposedly, the Pot of Gold is hidden at the end of a rainbow.
• But you can never find the end of a rainbow… first you have to catch the little Leprechaun
• If you catch one… you will be very lucky!!!!
