As We Gather...The absolute power of God—do you doubt it? Does it comfort you? Does it terrify you? In the midst of suffering and tragedy, in the clutches of a forceful world of violence and oppression, you may doubt the power of God. Or perhaps in the face of these things, you faithfully trust in God’s power to ultimately overcome and give you the victory. Or maybe you recognize your unworthiness to stand before God and His power is not seen as comforting, but threatening. Today we will consider how God uses His power in ways that are graciously surprising to us and the world around us.

CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP SERVICE
Thank you to Living Word Lutheran High School Students led by Robert Cody, for leading music at our Sunday services. A Cappella Choir and Chamber Ensemble along with student organist, Sam Grosskreuz, are at 8 & 11am while BasiC (Brothers and Sisters in Christ) worship team is leading 9:30am worship. The LWLHS Music Department exists to foster a lifetime of service and leadership in the Church and world, enabling students to serve as musicians throughout their entire lives. To this end, the Music Curriculum at LWLHS shapes "complete musicians." Spring Concert of Easter Music by The Lutheran A Cappella of Milwaukee will be here at St. Paul on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 7:30pm. It features J.S. Bach's Easter cantata, "Christ lag in Todesbanden" accompanied by chamber orchestra and organ, as well as other music of the Easter season by Heinrich Schütz, John Rutter, Dan Forrest and others. Tickets are $12 for Seniors and Students and $15 for general admission. Advance tickets are in the St. Paul reception office or they will also be available at the door.

The “IF’s” of Lent: The Threatening “IF” If you release this man you are not a friend of Caesar’s.

Threatening IF’s are common. “If you don’t do this, then you are not a part of the group.” “If you are known as a Christian, you can be labeled as a Jesus freak.” Or we have seen many asked “Are you a Christian?” then told, “Then you will be killed.” Pilate was being threatened with being labeled as no friend of Caesar, a very serious charge at the time. This decision by Pilate would label him for all eternity as the one who crucified Jesus. As you face those “threatening If’s” in your life, ask the Lord for the strength to make the right stand for your faith. Pilate failed to listen, even to his wife. May you, with the help of God, stand ready to do what is right no matter what the consequences may appear to be. -Pastor Wendorf

3. Our A Girls Basketball team played in the Nationals Basketball tournament in Valparaiso last weekend. While they did not place, they played hard on the court!
