Thursday: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

In today’s Gospel we find that God is a God of the living, and this is indeed the core of our hope. Jesus has risen and is with us, therefore, at no time should we be without hope for the future.

Through your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul you also can give God’s mercy to your neighbor who is hungry, hopeless, alone and frightened.

Your gifts can also provide the necessary resources to help transition a person in need to a self-sustaining circumstance. Recently, a client was only lacking the testing fee to enable her to take a certification exam which would in turn enable her to nearly double her salary once certified for the advanced position. She took and passed the certification test, was hired for the higher paying position and is now able to support herself and her family. Thank you for giving her hope and a success story!

Kathy Corbett, Director of Music 281.333.3891, Ext. 332 or [email protected]

Attention Musicians! Do you play piano, guitar, or other instrument? Do you sing? Our vibrant music ministry is looking for volunteers to help lead and enhance the music at our masses. If you're interested in serving, please contact Kathy Corbett at [email protected] or by calling the church office. I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

Psalm 69:30

November is traditionally a time for praying for the souls of all of our deceased family members, parishioners, friends and those who have nobody to pray for them. We give thanks for them and recall how each one brought a touch of God’s light into the world. We remember their loving deeds and rejoice in their faithfulness. Giving thanks to God for them, let us renew our desire to live lives that reflect God’s love. We invite you to write in our Book of Remembrance (found near the Baptismal Font) the names of your loved ones and friends who died this past year.

LITURGY AND WORSHIP LITURGIA Y CULTO

Joyce Lubofsky [email protected] • 281.333.3891 Ext. 333

SCHEDULE CHANGES During Father Wencil’s absence from the parish for the Spanish language pilgrimage to the Holy Land (Oct. 30-Nov. 12), the regular Sunday Mass schedule will take place.

We are grateful to Father Jim Bradley for covering some daily Masses; please read the schedule below carefully!

Daily Mass Time LanguageMonday, November7 None Tuesday, November 8 8:30 AM EnglishWednesday, November 9 8:30 AM EnglishThursday, November 10 7:00 PM SpanishFriday, November 11 None Saturday, November 12 None

PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO confessions Tuesdays and Thursdays. Confessions are heard Saturdays 3:00-4:00 PM at St. Bernadette, St. Clare and St. Mary (League City).

SOME LITURGICAL UPDATES Starting November 27th, the First Sunday of Advent, you will notice some minor changes at Mass: after the distribution of Communion is complete, the cups and bowls used will be returned to the Chapel sacristy by the Eucharistic Ministers and purified after Mass by the Deacon. This is one of the options offered in the General Instruction on the Roman Missal and will smooth the flow of the Mass a little bit. Also, at Sunday 5 PM Mass, the transfer of the Blessed Sacrament will take place from the Church Altar to the Chapel Altar at the end of Holy Communion. Thus we will show ever more clearly that the Lord we adore in Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is one and the same Lord whom we receive in Holy Communion. Effective 2017, all liturgical ministers will have two year terms of service. At the end of their term, each minister will take a one year respite from the ministry to reflect upon how God is calling that person to serve the parish family of St. Paul and the wider Church. If deemed best, the minister can request to resume that ministry after the one year.

In the kindness of your prayers, please pray for the repose of the souls of Gary Parker, Sr., Maria Dominguez and Maria Ysabell Medina Cortijo.

Ministry and Continuing Education for Adults Because Our Faith is too Rich to have ever Learned it All…

Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected] for more information.

Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living

“The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable adults to explore the

faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a

diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have

learned along the way.

Silver Linings Meeting Our monthly program for parishioners 55 and older meets again on Monday, November 14, at 1 PM in Room 10. Our guest speaker is Deacon Scott Daniel and we’ll have a potluck luncheon.

RCIA Continues to Grow! By the grace of God, our RCIA program continues to grow in number. At the 5 PM Mass on Sunday, November 13, we will celebrate our parish’s second Rite of Welcoming for people who are new to the RCIA program. Please be prepared to give them a warm, St. Paul welcome!

Pope Francis: The Fabric of Society

“Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross is nothing less than the culmination of the way he lived his entire life. Moved by his example, we want to enter fully into the fabric of society, sharing the lives of all, listening to their concerns, helping them materially and spiritually in their needs, rejoicing with those who rejoice, weeping with those who weep; arm in arm with others, we are committed to building a new world.”

Evangelii Gaudium

Baptism Volunteers Needed This is a volunteer need that doesn’t take a lot of time but can make a HUGE difference in the lives of those you minister to. Our baptism ministry team is in need of parents to help prepare parents and godparents as they seek baptism for their children. The classes meet one Sunday afternoon every other month. Training and all materials are provided. Easy peasy. Contact Heidi at [email protected] to volunteer.

Weekly Zumba Classes Join us for fun, energizing Zumba classes. They take place in Founders Hall at 10 AM on Saturday. A $5 donation goes toward the support of various adult ministry programs. All are welcome, regardless of your fitness level. For details, contact [email protected].

If you do not receive an invitation and would like to be included, contact Mary Sue Anton at 713.254.2961. RSVPs should be made no later than Monday, November 7.

Lenten Parish Mission We are pleased to announce that our Lenten parish mission will feature nationally-known evangelist and author Jon Leonetti. He will be presenting three evenings: Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, April 2-4, 2017. Topics he’ll address include who God is and why that matters, saints and scripture, and how to emulate the saints in our daily lives. Each session will last from 7-8:15 PM. Mark your calendars now and start inviting friends and family to join you. The event is free but an offering will be collected.

Divorce Care Group Plans Next Sessions to begin in November

We are truly divorced only when we let go of our marriage, mourn our loss, and adjust ourselves to our new life. At St. Paul, our Divorce Care Group exists to help one another do just that. This is a Catholic peer-ministry support group that addresses the stress, anger, blame and guilt of divorce and leads participants toward forgiveness, happiness and growth. The 14-session program begins Monday, November 28, at 7 PM in the Conference Room. Cost is $30 and financial assistance is available. Free childcare is provided when reservations are made in advance. The program will be facilitated by Laura Hicks, LMFT with the assistance of others who have already completed the program. Contact Heidi if you are interested in participating: [email protected] or 281.333.3891 or to make childcare arrangements.

Update Your Parishioner / Family Information Does our Church database have YOUR family membership record correct? Shortly, Guide Book Publishing will be updating our annual Directory. It is time to update our database with any changes, additions, or deletions that may have occurred in YOUR family over the past year.

Have you changed your phone number? Have you moved and have a new address? Are all your children still at home, are they included in your parishioner record? Do you want your email included? Do you want a listing in the directory or prefer not to be listed? If you have not already informed the Parish office about changes to your records, please let us know so the information in the Guide Book & Directory is correct. Call us at 281.333.3891.
