thAs the dawn breaks on 15 August 2017, the campus lies green and peaceful amidst the lush rubber trees on one side and the sprawling HMT road on the other. This peace slowly makes way for fast cars and two wheelers that enter the campus bringing along the faculty

stand students who have gathered to celebrate the 71 Independence Day. The silence that lay like a heavy carpet is now filled with the smart and disciplined boot sounds of the NCC cadets who have lined up for the Independence Day Parade. The sharp authoritative voice of Lt. Varun V. Varghese is heard issuing orders to the cadets as the Under Officer Jairam Kaladharan takes charge of the Squadron. Principal Dr. Peter Vadassery, and Vice-Principal, Dr. Shobana Michael join the crowd gathered near the portico of the college.

Suddenly they are joined by a figure in white; calm, peaceful and in full command of himself. He is none other than Rev. Fr. Felix Chakkalackal, the Manager of St. Paul's College; a person who within five years transformed the face of the campus by giving it a sea- change. As the nation completes seventy years of hard earned freedom the campus of St. Paul's also reverberates with the echoes of hard team work and a well-earned A grade.

Time 9.30am.

As the tricolor slowly rises under the deft fingers of Rev. Fr. Felix the crowd stands to attention and the National Anthem is sung in unison by the faculty and students, followed by the display march by the NCC Cadets. In his message, the Manager said every individual should be connected to his environment and work for its integral development. He advised the students to gear up to meet the challenges of the society and face each day with courage and a well-informed intellect. The Principal and Vice- Principal also gave messages of unity and teamwork for the development of the institution. The ceremony drew to a sweet end with the distribution of laddoos.

They were excited to have the students with them and they looked cheerful, perhaps because they could see the reflection of their grandchildren in their faces. Their love and affection for the young was awoken in their hearts. To break the monotony of their lives, the students presented a few songs and a dance for them. They relished their performance very much. Many of them forgot, for a moment, the sorrows of their hearts and fatigue of

A story unfolds as we turn the pages of the 10th edition of Reflections 2017. The academic year 2107 -18 began with a plethora of activities in all departments of the college. Fifty two years have passed since its inception and the passing year NAAC added power to its flight by accrediting it with A Grade. Since then there was no looking back. This year, however, we have incorporated some activities without a specific

time limit, which is to say till August, to balance the amount of news between the two issues. But there are more activities still left to be

included in the newsletter. They shall certainly be highlighted in our next issue. So from the editorial desk we

would like to place on record our immense honour and gratitude for all the help rendered by the Management and Principal for the successful

thpublication and release of the 10 Edition of Reflections 2017. Thank You.
