HAMILTON CATHOLIC PASTORAL REGION St. Joseph’s St. Julie Billiart St. Peter in Chains
______________________________________
WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING WITH THE PASTORAL
REGION PLANNING PROCESS?
Two things have been happening somewhat behind the
scenes. First, members of the committee have been gather-
ing information regarding parish life in the three parishes.
Each parish filled out a detailed report on Mass attendance,
finances, and ministries/activities. In addition, committee
members have been meeting with staff members of the
three parishes who are responsible for different parts of the
parish.
Second, St. Julie had their listening session Aug. 16. St.
Peter and St. Joseph will have their’s later this month. The
result of each parish’s listening session will be compiled.
October through the first of the year will be a time of seri-
ous work for the committee.
Listening sessions will be as follows:
Sunday, September 13, 12:30 at St. Peter in the cafete-
ria
Sunday, September 27 at St. Joe at 1:00 in the cafeteria
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
In today’s second reading from the
book of James we hear “What good
is it, my brothers and sisters, if
someone says he has faith but does
not have works? Can that faith save
him?”
If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for
the day, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep
warm, and eat well,” but you do not give them the necessi-
ties of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it
does not have works, is dead.
What good is faith, if we do not practice it as Jesus guided
us showing love to least of our brothers?
Our St. Vincent de Paul group has been receiving a high
volume of requests for emergency food from our local
neighbors. We have depleted most of our food closet inven-
tory. In conjunction with Pope Francis’ visit and the “Food
for All” Initiative, we as a parish are having a food drive
through our St. Vincent de Paul Society.
We will have paper shopping bags available after the Sep-
tember 12th and 13th Masses as well as the September
19thand 20th Masses. The items we are most in need of will
be listed on the bags. If you are able to contribute, please
return the grocery bags at the weekend Masses of Septem-
ber 26th and 27th and the weekend Masses of October 3rd and
4th.
Thank you all for your generous support of our St. Peter’s
St. Vincent de Paul’s efforts to bring God’s love to the least
of our brothers.
ABORTION AND RECONCILIATON Much of the news coverage about Pope Francis ex-
tending to all priests the faculty to absolve the sin of abor-
tion and remove the automatic excommunication that can
incur has been misleading and confusing. The Archdiocese of Cincinnati wants to make it
clear that our priests have already had this faculty for many
years. No one who has received absolution for this sin from
a priest of the Archdiocese, acting as the instrument of
God’s mercy, should doubt the validity of the sacrament. No priest can engage in sacramental ministry with-
out being granted faculties to do so by the local bishop.
What is included in those faculties is detailed in writing.
Priests of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, as permitted by
canon law, have long been granted by the Archbishop “the
faculty to absolve the sin (of abortion) and to remit the
(automatic) penalty” of excommunication. As St. John Paul II assured post-abortive women in
his encyclical, The Gospel of Life, “The Father of mercies is
ready to give you his forgiveness and his peace in the Sac-
rament of Reconciliation.” The Catholic Church also offers
compassionate post-abortion healing through Project Ra-
chel (www.projectrachelcincy.com).
MC CAULEY HIGH SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE
McCauley High School’s Open House will be held on Sat-
urday, October 25 2015, from 1-3:30 p.m. Prospective stu-
dents and parents are invited to tour the school anytime dur-
ing those hours. Parents and students will discover why
young women choose to Be Empowered at McCauley.
They will learn about McCauley’s academic programs, ath-
letics, arts and clubs: talk with teachers and students; and
experience all the McCauley has to offer.
To save time at check-in, a pre-registration form is availa-
ble at www.maccauleyhs.net/openhouse2015. For more

What’s Happening?
Over the last several months, the Pastoral Region Coordinating Committee (PRCC) has been working through the initial
steps of a process to develop a plan for the Hamilton Catholic Pastoral Region. The plan will help guide our pastoral region
with the transition of having one pastor to serve the three parish communities, which is set to take effect in July 2017.
The upcoming Parish Listening Session is a valuable step in the planning process. During this session, parishioners will
have the opportunity to provide insights on the following questions:
What most impresses you about the parish? What areas/ ministries help to foster a vibrant
parish community?
What are the areas you feel need the most improvement?
In what ways can we collaborate as a Pastoral Region to enhance the vibrancy of our
parish communities?
What advice would you give the Pastoral Region Committee leading this process?
All are welcome to attend this session. Your participation will greatly assist the PRCC members as they continue
with the planning process. For more information or for questions about the Listening Session, pleas feel free to contact one
of St. Peter’s representatives to the PRCC:
Charlie Debbane (737-1519) Sarah Kessler (894-3596) Deacon Jeff Merrell (863-3938 x302)

SHARING THE GOSPEL
JESUS WAS THE KING, THE MESSIAH THAT GOD'S PEOPLE HAD BEEN WAITING FOR. IN TODAY'S GOSPEL READING, THE DISCIPLES WERE CONFUSED. IF JESUS WAS THE KING, WHY WAS HE SAYING HE WOULD DIE SOON? JESUS' FRIENDS DID NOT UNDERSTAND YET THAT BY DYING ON THE CROSS, JESUS WOULD SAVE THEM FROM THEIR SINS. PRAYER DEAR GOD, THANK YOU FOR COMING TO SAVE ME FROM MY SINS. SOMETHING TO DRAW DRAW A PICTURE OF JESUS CARRYING HIS CROSS.
MISSION FOR THE WEEK WITH YOUR FAMILY, TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU WOULD ENJOY IF YOU WERE A KING OR QUEEN. TELL HOW JESUS WAS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER KINGS.
