Dear Friends,

We con nue our reflec on on “Why the Son of God Became Man.”  The third reason that the Catechism of the Catholic Church gives is that so Jesus could be our model of holiness.

What does it mean that Jesus is our model of holiness?  Jesus Christ embodied everything he taught.  For example, when he preached the bea tudes, he himself was already the              embodiment of the bea tudes.  When Jesus said, “Blessed are the pure of heart,” he was speaking as the one who           possesses the purest heart.  When Jesus told us to forgive “seventy  mes seven  mes,” he was speaking as the one who always forgives.  When Jesus said, “Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you,” he was speaking as the one who perfectly loves every person, even his enemies.

Jesus, therefore, is our model of holiness because he is the source of grace that we need to live the life of holiness.  He is not simply our role model, simply someone we look up to; he actually possesses within himself the divine power to make us holy.  And so staying united to Jesus in prayer and the             sacramental life gives us the grace to live what he taught and therefore to be conformed more and more to him.   The more we are conformed to Jesus, the more we reflect his life and love to others.

As we con nue our Advent journey, let us ask ourselves: Am I spending quality  me in prayer in order to allow my heart and mind to be more conformed to Jesus, our model of holiness?  Am I reading the Gospels regularly so that I can get to know Jesus more?  Am I doing my best to share the love of the Lord with the people that I encounter in my daily life?

Miscellaneous:

The ligh ng of vo ve candles is a wonderful, pious        tradi on in our faith.  You may have no ced the new vigil candle that is on the Divine Mercy altar.  One of things that I’d like to offer, beginning in the new year, is for you to be able to have either the Divine Mercy candle or the tabernacle candle lit for your inten ons.  These vigil    candles burn for one week, so the candle would           represent your inten on for the en re week.  I will give more informa on on this in the coming weeks.

A big “Thank you” to all who helped to organize our    giving tree as well as to all of you who bought gi s.  It is so important to help those in need, especially during this me of year.

Reminder: Take advantage of Wednesday evening Rosary and Divine Mercy with confessions being offered from 5:00‐5:30.

giving tree at St Pius X Program. We collected many beautiful clothes as well as diapers, baby wipes and gift cards. I can assure you that

many families will benefit from your generosity. The gift cards are used to purchase cribs, strollers, car seats, clothing and other baby

necessities. We have over 100 clients that we provide for and you have helped lighten the burden tremendously.

May God continue to bless you and your families this Advent & Christmas season.

St. Pius X Giving Tree – Christmas 2017

A very special “Thank You” to all of you who gave so generously to our “2017 Giving Tree”. The organizations were overwhelmed with what they

received. We had 521 tags that helped those less fortunate enjoy a truly wonderful Christmas. Each year the St. Pius X Parishioners continue to

demonstrate the true meaning of compassion and concerns for those less fortunate in our community. Peace, happiness and many blessings to you all at St. Pius X Church, a parish family that goes above and beyond helping our

neighbors.

A huge “Thank You” to all the volunteers who gave of their time, effort and support either by making tags (ornaments) and/or sorting the gift certificates

and presents. This could not have been done without each one of you and is appreciated more than I can express in words.

A thank you to Tom Burgess who year after year puts up our “Special

Tree” and then takes it down. We also owe a special thanks to Deb Carey for making sure the notices are added to the bulletin in a timely manner; and

last but not least a huge thank you to Mrs. Janet Rufful for opening the school for our volunteers meeting.

Again, I thank you all and that your Christmas will be a merry one and you

will have a healthy happy New Year filled with many blessings.

God Bless,

Susan Brocato
