“How marvelous it would be if,
at the end of the day, each of us could say: today I have performed an act of charity towards
others” – Pope Francis
Please make a commitment to support the 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal. Ministries supported by the appeal have
a direct impact on the administration and evangelization efforts at our parish – and all parishes, missions, and
communities of our diocese. Your generous support and participation is critical to the success of the 2019 Annual
Catholic Appeal. Help move us forward in hope as we seek to better embody the Gospel message in our lives.
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace” – 1 Peter 4:10
Thank you for your prayers, support and participation!

To date: 59 participants $11,380
Dear Parish Family,
The risen Christ is our shepherd. “We are his people: the sheep of his flock.” He gives us eternal life,
and we shall never perish.
The risen Christ is “a light to the nations,” so that all people everywhere are renewed by the Easter event.
The poor, the hungry and the homeless stand in the presence of the risen Christ: “He will lead them to springs of life-giving water, and
God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”
Abused children and the neglected elderly stand before the risen Christ: “He will lead them to springs of life-giving water, and God will
wipe every tear from. their eyes.”
We walk in the valley of darkness, but we fear no evil, for we follow in faith the call of the shepherd, who was “sent for our hope and
strength.”
Jesus has entered our history as God's anointed son who announces the coming of God's kingdom, a kingdom of justice and peace and
freedom. And, what Jesus proclaims, he embodies in his actions. His ministry reveals that the reign of God is something more powerful
than evil, injustice, and the hardness of hearts. Through his crucifixion and resurrection, he reveals that God's love is ul timately
victorious over all suffering, all horror, all meaninglessness, and even over the mystery of death.
Thus, we proclaim words of hope and assurance to all who suffer and are in need.

Heartfelt Thanks Thank you to Mary Lapora and Sharon Stevenson for keeping the
hall and kitchen so clean and spotless for over a year!
Sharon is moving and sadly, they will no longer be taking on
this task. When we use the kitchen, let’s leave it as clean as they
would. It is spotless!

good stewards of God’s varied grace. 1 Peter 4:10
An Irish blessing
There is but one and only one,
Whose love will fail you never.
One who lives from sun to sun,
With constant fond endeavor.
There is but one and only one
On earth there is no other.
In heaven a noble work was done
When God gave us a Mother.

Middle School and High School Youth Easter Season lasts for SEVEN weeks! from blog.franciscanmedia.org Who can keep up the Easter spirit for seven weeks? And yet
that is what the Church asks of us each year. We spend six
weeks of Lent getting ready for the celebration of Jesus’
resurrection. Then we are to spend seven weeks celebrating this
important season.
Here is your challenge: to focus on how to keep the Easter
spirit all seven weeks until Pentecost. Don’t stop those Easter
traditions on Easter. BEGIN them on Easter! Here we will
post an idea each week.
Week FOUR:
Remember Mom Spend time remembering
those alive and deceased, our
biological mothers as well as
adoptive mothers, spiritual
mothers, aunts, or teachers.
Even if the memories are sad if
your mother is no longer alive,
there is a reason to pause,
celebrate, and reflect on how
God is mother to us as well as father.
Steubenville West
Each summer, Life Teen hosts Steubenville Youth Conferences with the hopes of strengthening and inspiring teens and
youth groups in their collective journeys with Christ. Evangelistic in nature, these weekend conferences are both a great
“introduction” to the Gospel message for new or younger teens, while offering deep and moving experiences of prayer and
fellowship for your youth group
regulars.
Come let our Life Teen Staff and
volunteers spoil you – you work so hard
for the teens and their families – let us
work hard for you. Give your own spirit
the gift of renewal and give your teens
the inspiration they need to renew not
only your youth group but your entire
parish community. Join us for a weekend of engaging liturgies, inspiring music,
challenging talks and overwhelming joy.
Youth participants must be age 18 or younger and incoming freshman through just
graduated seniors.

Saturday Morning Men’s Group (REDUX) We are getting back together.
After encouragement from several men in the parish, the Saturday morning Men’s group meeting will return
beginning May 18 at 7:00 am - 8:30 am in the St. John XXIII Center. The reactivation of the group will begin with a
study on the Gospel of Mark. Long forgotten and ignored in favor of the other Gospels scholars have rediscovered
Mark and now believe it to be the first of the Gospels. Join us as we explore the shortest Gospel often credited for
the framework Matthew and Luke used to build their Gospels. Using the St. Ignatius scripture study as our material
we will begin to build a better understanding of scripture. Also, planned for the group is a celebration at Mass on
each of the first Saturdays of the month followed by a breakfast social gathering. Join us as we take this step to
renew our commitment as Catholic Men and fathers in faith. If you have teenage sons bring them with you.
For more information speak with Craig Cook or Deacon Ron Desmarais after any of the Masses.

Prayer and Worship
Saint Isadore the Farmer Feast Day May 15
Isidore has become the patron of farmers and rural
communities. In particular, he is the patron of Madrid, Spain, and of
the United States National Rural Life Conference.
When he was barely old enough to wield a hoe, Isidore entered
the service of John de Vergas, a wealthy landowner from Madrid,
and worked faithfully on his estate outside the city for the rest of
his life. He married a young woman as simple and upright as himself
who also became a saint—Maria de la Cabeza. They had one son,
who died as a child.
Isidore had deep religious instincts. He rose early in the morning
to go to church and spent many a holiday devoutly visiting the
churches of Madrid and surrounding areas. All day long, as he
walked behind the plow, he communed with God. His devotion, one
might say, became a problem, for his fellow workers sometimes
complained that he often showed up late because of lingering in
church too long.
He was known for his love of the poor, and there are accounts
of Isidore’s supplying them miraculously with food. He had a great
concern for the proper treatment of animals.
He died May 15, 1130, and was declared a saint in 1622.
