Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time June 25 2017
On this Saturday of June 24th, the Feast of St. John the Baptist, with great joy we
rededicated our Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson City. We the priests, with lay
representatives, gathered with Bishop Serratelli in the seat of our diocese to give thanks to
God for the great sacrifice given by parishioners throughout the diocese to make this
possible. Thanks to everyone at St. Rose who took part in the Partners in Faith Campaign
which helped to raise the millions of dollars necessary to reconstruct, repair and beautify our cathedral.
Deacon Michal and Deacon Andrew are counting the days – one week to their Ordination to
Priesthood at the cathedral. With great excitement Alex returned to St. Rose last Monday evening. We look
forward to having him with us until mid-August. He is a great help in the preparations for the ordinations
and for the two first Masses.
Deacon Andrew returned home on Tuesday evening. Naturally he’s thrilled and excited to be
ordained a priest in the coming week. So we have a full house!!! Deacon Andrew’s family will stay nearby
and arrive from Florida on this coming Friday. Deacon Michal’s family and two priest friends will arrive
from Poland this Monday, June 26th and will be staying here with us in the parish.
As I have previously mentioned, Deacon Andrew, soon to be Fr. Andrew, will celebrate his first Mass
here at 10:00am on Sunday, July 2nd. Deacon Michal, soon to be Fr. Michal, will celebrate his first Mass here
at 12:00noon on Sunday, July 2nd. Many parishioners may want to attend both Masses. Those who do may
receive Holy Communion at each Mass. Also, as previously mentioned, we will host a reception for both
newly ordained in Fahey Hall at approximately 1:15pm. As is the custom, both priests will give their first
blessings in Fahey Hall towards the end of the lunch. Let us keep Michal and Andrew in prayer during these
joyful and exciting days.
Despite the inclement weather, our “Mass in the Park” went beautifully in the church. The picnic in
Fahey Hall was lovely. A big thanks to our Brother Knights who work so hard and who are so generous to
the parish and beyond.
I was very pleased with our attendance at our Corpus Christi procession. Thank God the weather
held up. Deacon Michal, as with everything he does, did a beautiful job.
Congratulations to the Class of 2017 Hanover Park who graduated this weekend. So many of the
graduates are members of our parish, many of whom are involved in Youth Ministry. On behalf of Mrs.
Politi, Lisa P., Fr. Matthew and Deacon Michal, I extend our warmest congratulations to you and wish you
grace and blessings as you move forward in life.
Summer camp began last Monday and continues until August 25th. The children are enjoying lots of
fun activities. Fr. Matthew and Miss Lorie are excited again this year to provide a wonderful program for
children ages 3 through 9. Deacon Kamil will be presenting age appropriate bible stories for the children.
We do have some spaces still available. Anyone interested in sending your child, please contact Carol
Freeman at 973-887-1801 or [email protected].

Prayer for the Rededication of the Cathedral
To you, O Good and Gracious God, who built your holy Church
Upon the apostles with Jesus Christ its cornerstone,
We come with thanksgiving for allowing us
To rebuild our Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist.
Listen graciously to our prayers
That what we have made beautiful on earth
May truly be your dwelling place where the faith is proclaimed,
The sacraments celebrated and charity increased.
As we rededicate our mother church, help us
To grow into the temple of your glory,
So that, constantly renewed by your grace,
We may be gathered by your hand
Into the heavenly city, the New Jerusalem.
Through Christ our Lord.
AMEN

PILGRIMAGE TO ITALY 2018
Many of you know that we have been awaiting dates to plan
our next Pilgrimage in Italy to include attending the Diaconate
Ordination in Rome in 2018. I'm thrilled to share that we do
have the confirmed date of the Ordination. The dates we will
be in Rome are Sept 25 through September 30, 2018. We are in
the planning stages still, but we will be adding a Southern Italy
pilgrimage to this trip as well, dates to be announced, but
tentatively we would begin our trip to southern Italy
on September 20th.
Attending this ordination in Rome will be extraordinary. We
are sharing this to begin to acquire a list of who will be joining
us. Due to the Ordination, hotel rooms in Rome near the
Vatican will sell out quickly, therefore we plan to secure our
rooms now. If you are interested in joining Fr Owen on this
special Pilgrimage to the Ordination in Rome in 2018, please
email Stephanie Politi at [email protected]. as
