28th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year C) Ps4 13th Oct 2019 This Sunday, October 13, Blessed John Henry Newman will be canonised. Theologian, scholar,
educationalist, poet, novelist, convert, cardinal and blessed are some of the outstanding titles of John Henry
Newman we can celebrate on the occasion of his canonisation in Rome next Sunday (October 13th). Blessed
John Henry Newman was one of the most prominent converts to Catholicism from Anglicanism of the 19th
century. He was already an esteemed Anglican theologian when he founded the Oxford Movement to return
the Church of England to its Catholic roots, before himself converting to the Catholic faith. He was renowned
as a brilliant thinker and was made a cardinal by Pope Leo XIII. He died in Birmingham in 1890, aged 89,
after founding the Birmingham Oratory. Cardinal John Henry Newman might well be the patron saint of
ecumenism.

Renovation Work on The Parish Centre: The bulk of the works are now
complete & I’m sure you will agree when I say that the hall looks
wonderful! The Grand Opening party that was held on Friday 4th October
was a big success & it was great to show all the people that have worked
so hard on the renovation our gratitude.
We have to say an enormous thank you to Mark Burrell, Sean Moore &
Darren Borman who have worked so hard to get teams together & have
made the renovation possible.
The hall is such a wonderful addition to our community & it will serve us
for many years to come.
Thank you again to everyone for your generosity in helping in our
fundraising efforts. We still have a ‘building fund box’ at the back of the
church should you wish to donate - all monies collected mean we are a
step closer to raising the full amount that has been spent on the Parish
Centre - thank you very much to those who have donated to the box so
far! We will also continue to have a second collection on the last Sunday
of the month to help reach our target!
Please be advised that all activities within the Parish Centre will now
resume.

poorest of our brothers & sisters.
RCIA 2020: The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a process
developed by the Catholic Church for prospective converts to
Catholicism who are above the age of infant Baptism. Candidates
are gradually introduced to aspects of Catholic beliefs & practices.
Adults that wish to join the Roman Catholic Church should complete
the ‘initial enquiry’ forms that we have at the back of the Church.
These need to be handed back to Fr Richard by the 31st Oct & he will
then meet with you on an individual basis to discuss further! (Please
note, all are welcome & it does not affect the process if you have
been Baptised or not).
