In an effort to strengthen our relationship with the Lord, we are offering Adoration at the following times:

Adoration

Dear friends in the Lord, As we make our way through these final weeks of Lent, we remember that Lent is a time to receive the forgiveness and healing that our Lord came to offer us. Throughout his papacy, Pope

Francis has continually emphasized the infinite mercy of our God who never tires of reaching out to us. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a gift that permits each one of us to encounter the mercy of God in a personal and profound way. It is in this sacrament that we come to see the merciful face of God who never tires of forgiving us. This sacrament flows directly from the Paschal Mystery which we are celebrating. The first thing that Jesus did when He rose from the dead was to give the apostles the ability to forgive sins in His name. He said “Peace be with you” because this sacrament is one of healing –to heal my soul, to heal my heart, to heal my relationships, and to be healed of wrongdoing. Each time we go to confession, God embraces us and He rejoices! If it has been awhile since you have been to the sacrament, that’s okay. We priests are here to help you encounter Christ and we will guide you through the experience. This upcoming week we have lots of opportunities in the area. Below is a list of days, times, and locations for all of the Lenten Penance Services. March 19 at 7:00 PM at St. Patrick, Chesterton

God’s Hands in Action— St. Teresa’s Tithing As individuals we are called to be good and generous stewards with God’s manifold gifts. Tithing is the means whereby we have the opportunity to give thanks to God; with that in mind, the community of St. Teresa of Avila tithes $450 weekly. This week our tithing will be donated to the Sojourner Truth House in Gary, Indiana.

What’s Going on with the Students?

St. T's is having its annual Amazing Race! What is Amazing Race? It's a race around Valpo where competing teams of college students complete fun challenges. The winning team ultimately wins a cash prize and serious bragging rights. We are looking for drivers and homes to host challenges. This is an event that many college students look forward to every year, largely because of the fun they have with YOU, the community. The race takes place on Saturday, May 5th from 6-9pm. This is a great way to meet college students, get involved, and have a blast at the same time! Please email Katie Hamer at [email protected] if you are interested in helping by driving or hosting a challenge at your home.

St. Teresa of Avila Lenten Project Update:

At this point, because of your generosity, we are able to

provide food, housing and an education for 213 children

in Kenya.

Thank you for your generosity.

Spring break is over, and the RCIA group gets down to final preparations for Easter. We celebrate the last of three Scrutinies with our elect, Kameron, at the 9pm mass this Sunday, and then move to the topic of Faith & Creed on Monday evening as Kris Conad will step in to guide the discussion. Just a couple of weeks left.

As the candidates and elect continue to look inward and prepare themselves to enter into the Easter season, the prayers and support of the community are most important. Thank you and God bless!

For from Him and through Him and for Him are all things. To Him be glory forever.
