Today’s Gospel seems espe- cially timely, for as Christians worldwide suffer perse- cution like Paul and Barnabas, Jesus promises his sheep enduring, invincible safety: “They shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand.” But we who are free to live our faith peacefully sometimes take our membership in Jesus’ flock for granted, wandering astray to seek our own pleasure and prosperity. The simple cross that Pope Francis always wears seems to show us how Jesus responds to that. Francis’s cross features an image of Jesus, who has sought and found a lost sheep, then joyfully set it on his shoulders to car- ry it gently home. May Good Shepherd Sunday inspire us, so often lost and found ourselves, to assist Jesus in seeking, finding, and gently carrying home our fellow precious lambs. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

PASTOR’S MESSAGE

PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS

St. Thomas is preparing food for the “Table” at the Presbyterian Church every third Thursday of each month. We hope you will use the sign-up sheet so we know what food you bring and who the volunteer helpers will be on that Thursday. We need potatoes, carrots, ham, green beans, and milk. The sign-up sheet for the food is on the “Table” board and a half barrel marked “Table” underneath where you can put food the Sunday before. This is on the NW corner of the Social Hall.

THE TABLE

CONFIRMATIONS The Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on May 18th at the 4pm Mass. Our parish has about 50 candidates for Confirmation this year. Please keep them in your prayers. Thank you.

At our May "Doughnut Sunday" we raised $55.43 for St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. A big Thank You to the Eggers Family for heading up this month's "Doughnut Sunday." If you would like to sponsor a month please contact Maureen Eckert at (707) 227-9031. We need additional helpers for June.

THANK YOU

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Friday, June 7, the First Friday of the month, from 9am to 10pm. Mass is celebrated at 12pm. Please come and join us for Adoration on this First Fri-day. We need people to sign up for a Holy Hour during the 13 hours. The sign-up sheet is on the parish bulletin board in the church hall. Please consider signing up for an hour to ensure we have every hour covered, and hopefully by more than just one person per hour.

BLESSED SACRAMENT ADORATION

We have invested resources to beautify our gar-dens. Please talk to Fr. Abel before making any changes to the garden or flowers.

MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE

One of the great aspects of our faith is that the Catholic Church is made up of members from differ-ent cultures and languages. The readings this weekend reminds all of us of that we are all one fami-ly, regardless of who we are or where we come from. Our faith and trust in God is what unites us as one family. Yet, the first reading reminds us of the challenges that can manifest even in the most perfect families. Our Catholic Church is not the exception. We must all strive to be kind, charitable and respectful of others. That will only happen if we open our hearts, minds and will to that of God and His Holy Church. Let us continue to walk in our spiritual journey during this Easter season as one family united by our faith, being open to God so that we might imitate His example and be kind, respectful and charitable to others. On another note, Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers in our parish. May God continue to bless all of you and your families. May God continue to bless all of you and our parish of St. Thomas, Fr. Abel

Next Sunday, May 13th, is Mother’s Day. The Altar Guild has one of its biggest fundraisers for the parish on that weekend – the Mother’s Day Bake Sale. Home-baked items will be sold be-fore and after all of the weekend Masses. If you bake, and would like to help the Guild with the fundraiser, you can bring your home-baked goods to the church hall on Saturday, from 1-5pm, or on Sunday morning before the 9am Mass. We hope you will consider donating some home-baked goods to help the Altar Guild raise money for the parish, and we thank you in ad-vance

MOTHER’S DAY BAKE SALE

* NOTICE: In the month of May the office will have a temporary change of hours of operation. From May 13 to May 31 the office and church will be open only from 9am to 1pm. As of June 3, we return to our regular office schedule from 9am to 5pm.

OFFICE HOURS

P. Abel

Jesus said: “My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they fol-low me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can take them out of the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”
