THE WORD OF TRUST

Msgr. Raun teaches on the final word that Jesus spoke on the cross. “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” In this moving message, we learn four truths to remember in our darkest hour and we learn the depth of trust that we can place in the powerful hands of God.

Culture of Life

This Palm Sunday we take our clue from “Cruz De

Perfeccion—Cruz de Perdon:” Cross of Perfection—

Cross of Pardon. No person is able to hope to enter

Heaven without compete forgiveness (pardon) of their

sins. Our Lord gave us a simple rule to follow:

“Forgive us the wrong we have done as we also for-

give those who have wrong us” (Matt.6:12). When

“Jesus rides into Jerusalemhe is not escaping

death. Spiritually speaking, this is the most important

week of the yearour heart should be filled with sor-

row over what we have done to our Lord” (Fr. De Pal-

ma). He did no wrong; we have! End Lent with a con-

trite heart. Confess. Ask for forgiveness. Be

healed. In martyrdom: “As Stephen was being stoned,

he could be heard saying ‘Lord, receive my spirit

Lord do not hold this sin against them” ( Acts 7:59-

60 ).

FEEL THE PAIN

Oh my mother, I can never begin to know your anguish and pain

As in your loving arms, the body of your Son was lain. You bore him in a stable humble and good,

You nursed Him at your breast as our Father said you would.

You raised Him with Love and tender care,

He brought you joy and love and an occasional tear. You felt the anguish of a mother whose child was lost,

And you found Him in the temple, you searched at all cost.

You nurtured and guided Him through His teenage years, Sharing many rewards, but knowing too, a mother’s tears.

You knew your share of sleepless nights, Worried each moment He was out of your sight.

You watched Him in His public life, cure their ills, end their strife.

You saw Him heal the blind that they may see, And make the deaf to hear so they may be free.

He revealed His temper in the marketplace,

Everyone knew it was real by the look on His face. And all the while you knew the Father’s plan-

Your Son would save the world, and die for the sins of man.

You watched as they whipped His flesh, until His bones shown white, You felt the pain of the thorns as they pushed the crown with all their might.

His agony was yours, as on His back so torn, The weight of our sins, the cross, was borne.

You felt each blow of the mallet as each nail was driven,

But you never questioned the will of our Father in Heaven. You felt such anguish and pain as the lance pierced His side,

And your heart was with Him as He bowed His head –and died.

Immaculate Mother so pure and true, Guide me home to Heaven with you.

Starting at 4:00 PM on Holy Thursday, we will be hand-

The Chimayo Pilgrimage Project began eight years ago as a way to provide encourage-ment to the pilgrims on their journey and to hold high our Catholic faith. The goal is to provide encouragement and give religious items to pilgrims as they mount the last hill on their physical and spiritual journey into Chimayo. For those who have traveled a great distance, this hill can be agonizing and we want to be their Simon of Cyrene. It is a time where we put the Outing in Scouting and put our Catholic faith in action.
