MATHLETICS

Deer Writing Showcase

Year 4 have been busy reading their class book ''Mouse, bird, snake, wolf'' by David Almond. The children have been learning about features of a graphic novel and using this as an inspiration for them to plan and create their own story in a graphic novel style. The stories were set in the ocean and included some ocean creatures as part of the topic ‘Blue Abyss’. Here we can see Amarah’s comic style story and also Jan and Fabriana’s. Well done to them all.

Year 5 Maths Challenge Well done to our maths team who went to St. John Bosco College and used their problem solving and maths skills to solve secondary school level challenges. Our team impressed St. John Bosco greatly with their knowledge. What superstars!

Phil the Bag Unfortunately our Phil the Bag collection, which was scheduled for Thursday 10th October, has been postponed. Please keep your old unwanted

clothing until we can fix another date. Thank you!

Larisa Irish Jane

Artist of the Week.

This week Year 6, have been learning about artist Jim Dine as part of their topic ‘Blood Heart’. He is an American artist who is known for his work on heart and skull art. Here Larisa and Irish Jane have sketched skulls very carefully as part of their observational work. Well done to them both.

CAFOD’s Harvest Campaign

Our school will be celebrating Harvest Festival on Friday 18 October and as always, we are asking for donations to help support the Soup Kitchen at St. Thomas’ Church which gives supplies of non-perishable goods to individuals and families in need. All donations will be gratefully received in the box in the reception area of the school. The last day to donate is Friday 11 October.

Jan Fabriana

Book Fair St. Thomas’ book fair will take place on Monday 14 October until Thursday 18 October in the back of the school hall. There will be a great selection of books so please come along and see if anything catches your eye!

Police visit Reception and Year 1

On Thursday, Reception class and Year 1 were very lucky to have not two but four police officers visit them! They learnt about staying safe on the road, calling 999, what to do if they got lost and the importance of knowing their address and parents names. They also tried on the police hats and had a good look at the walkie talkies, handcuffs and the pepper spray. A huge thank you to the police officers for coming in and talking to the children and maybe inspiring some of them to become officers of the law themselves one day!
