[email protected] This workshop is co-sponsored by St. Mary's Parish,
Barrie and Office of Formation for Discipleship
MAY 20, 2018 On Saturday, May 12, Cardinal Thomas Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, ordained two men to the priesthood. An estimated 1,000 guests attended the celebration, which took place at 10 a.m. at Toronto’s newly restored St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica.
These new priests include a Nova Scotian lawyer and journalist and a Hong Kong-born engineering student who both left their previous endeavours to pursue priesthood. They join the more than 800 diocesan and religious priests who provide pastoral leadership to the Catholic faithful in this region.
Candidates for the priesthood undertake a minimum five years of extensive spiritual formation, theological education and practical training in preparation for priestly ministry. This year’s candidates spent more than eight years in study and formation. Fr. Raymond So and Fr. Alexander MacDonald will be assigned to serve at one of 225 parishes in the Archdiocese of Toronto.
We offer our prayers and congratulations to our newly ordained priests.
