Gospel: Matthew 15:21-28

Notes from Fr. Del...Dear Parishioners,

“Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” These are the words of Jesus to His frightened disciples in the gospel we hear this weekend. Peter, in particular, is filled with fear as He walks on water – and then doesn’t. The faith that you and I share graces us with courage to face all of the challenges and difficulties of life, no matter how daunting they may seem to us.

The Scottish philosopher John Macmurray contrasts “illusory” religion with “real religion.”

The maxim of illusory religion is: “Fear not; trust in God and He will see that none of the things you fear will happen to you.”

Real religion, says Macmurray, has a different maxim: “Fear not; the things that you are afraid of are quite likely to happen to you, but they are nothing to be afraid of. ”Macmurray’s observation challenges us to understand our fears in an entirely new way.

As we face the challenges in the coming week, may we observe the grace of real religion when God gives us courage to follow his invitation – even if it includes walking on water.

Have a blest week.

? Question of the WeekHow might your life change if you were as bold and persistent in faith as the Canaanite woman?

Begins September 1st, at 8:00-9:30 a.m.,

Parish Ministry Center

Ever wondered “what’s next” in your life? Maybe your kids are getting older, maybe you are a new mother,

or maybe you are somewhere between an empty nest and grandkids.

Regardless or your spot on the motherhood timeline this is the group for you Our mission is simple, but often overlooked.

BECOMING THE BEST VERSION OF YOURSELF BY LIVING, TEACHING AND PROCLAIMING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST.

This wonderful group of moms will welcome you with open arms and open hearts. We will be reading and discussing “A Call to Mercy: Hearts to Love, Hands to Serve,” by Mother Teresa.

This book will help us learn more about the works of mercy before us in our lives. We will support and challenge each other to be the hearts and hands of Jesus here on earth,

as we navigate through motherhood. Mother Teresa’s words will be our guide.

We invite you to come Join Us!Additionally, we hope to schedule 3-5 evening meetings throughout the school year.

The plans are not finalized, but we envision these as service projects followed by fellowship. We would like to partner with the Outreach Commission or open our hearts to help others

who may be in need of our love and service.

National Pilgrim Virgin Statue Tour:

The National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima presently travels across the United States under the sponsorship of the World Apostolate of Fatima USA (WAF), and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is blessed to host a tour of the statue from Friday, September 8 through Thursday, September 28, 2017.

On Wednesday, September 13th, from 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., the statue will be at St. Thomas More Parish in Withamsville, and on Tuesday, September 26, the statue will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Milford.

The National Pilgrim Virgin Statue is a beautiful hand-carved image of Our Lady of Fatima given to the United States by the bishop of Fatima after being blessed by Pope Paul VI in 1967. The statue was crowned by Cardinal O’Boyle at the National Basilica in Washington, DC in 1971, and the statue has proven time and again to be the catalyst for renewed interest in the message of Fatima and for exposing new generations of Catholics, who are unaware of the important message of conversion and peace brought by Our Lady to the three shepherd children in 1917 at Fatima, Portugal.

Additional information about the WAF and details about the National Pilgrim Virgin Statue’s tour in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is available at the WAF›s website at https://wafusa.org/the-apostolate/pilgrim-virgin-statue-tours/.
