HOOVER, AL

Incorporated in 1967, Hoover is located in Jefferson and Shelby Counties in north central AlabamaIn 1968, its population was estimated at 410 and has grown to more than 83,000 today, making it the sixth largest city in the state. The city of Hoover encompasses approximately 48 square miles.

Norman Tynes has been in the Commercial Real Estate profession for over 25 years. As Executive Vice President at Harbert Realty, Mr. Tynes’ responsibilities include commercial brokerage for investment sales and land sales, Class “A” Office and single-story garden office development, medical office, Freestanding Emergency Department and surgery centers, property management and brokerage.

PRIOR EXPERIENCEBefore Mr. Tynes’ company, Harris Tynes Realty Group, Inc. merged with Harbert Realty Services, LLC, Mr. Tynes was Vice President of Marketing and Develop-ment for Daniel Corporation. For the four years Mr. Tynes was with Daniel, he was responsible for portfolio leasing, land sales, and assisted in Class “A” office development. Before joining Daniel Corporation, Mr. Tynes was Vice President of the Huntsville Division for Harbert Realty Services, LLC Before joining Harbert Realty Services, LLC, Mr. Tynes was Development Director for Metropolitan Properties, Inc. in Orlando, Florida.

EDUCATIONWith a major in Public Relations and Communications, Mr. Tynes received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Auburn University in 1987.

PROFESSIONAL AND CIVIC ORGANIZATIONSMr. Tynes has served as the President of the Alabama Chapter of NAIOP. In 2008 Mr. Tynes received the Alabama Chapter of NAIOP Development of the Year award with the redevelopment of Cahaba Beach Office Park. He is very active in the Boy Scouts of America and has served as President of the Board of Direc-tors for Community Kitchens of Birmingham. Mr. Tynes is an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

West has over 20 years of experience as a commercial real estate professional in the areas of investment, development, brokerage, leasing and asset man-agement. He has completed lease and brokerage transactions totaling over $500 Million for office, retail and industrial properties. He has also been effective for his clients in transacting large land acquisitions for development and disposition of raw land. West is recognized as one of Birmingham’s “Top Producer in Sales and Leasing” by the Commercial Million Dollar Sales Achievement Club. He is further recognized by the Birmingham Business Journal as “Who’s Who in Commercial Real Estate” highlighting leaders in the Commercial Real Estate industry and a “Top 40 Under 40” business leader in Birmingham.

PRIOR EXPERIENCEOne of West’s career highlights is co-founding, operating and growing Harris Tynes Realty Group from 2006 to 2013, prior to merging his company with Harbert Realty Services in November 2013. His primary focus at Harbert Realty is investment, brokerage and leasing services for high net worth and institutional clients. Prior to joining Harbert West has had the distinct advantage of running the Birmingham offices for Atlanta based Taylor & Mathis and Carter & Associates where he gained invaluable experience working with exceptional people. Areas of Expertise Include: Lease Negotiation, General Brokerage, Asset Manage-ment, Investment Sales, Land Acquisition/Disposition and Development.

EDUCATIONWest earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History from the University of Alabama in 1996. He holds an Alabama Brokers License and is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM).

PROFESSIONAL AND CIVIC ORGANIZATIONSMr. Harris is Past President of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), Metropolitan Development Board Member and Horizon 280 Board Member. He is an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and the Monday Morning Quarterback Club benefiting the Crippled Children Founda-tion. Mr. Harris has also served the American Heart Association and Muscular Dystrophy Association in their fundraising initiatives.
