Staff Development Kit
User Guide
March 2018
The NSW Ministry of Health wishes to acknowledge the Early Childhood Training
and Resource Centre (ECTARC) for their contribution to the development of the
Munch & Move Staff Development Kit.
2
The Munch & Move Staff Development Kit is a practical, user-friendly tool designed to
support early childhood education and care (ECEC) educators, including family day care
service providers and coordinators, to upskill their colleagues and staff in the Munch &
Move program.
Upskilling all ECEC service staff in the Munch & Move program will ensure Munch & Move
is embedded in the service’s everyday practices through a ‘whole of service’ approach to
healthy eating and physical activity.
The Munch & Move Staff Development Kit consists of 7 training modules, a reflective
practice document and Record of Completion. Start with ‘Module 1 Program Overview’ to
ensure your ECEC service understands what the Munch & Move program is and why we
need Munch & Move.
After completing ‘Module 1 Program Overview’, select any of the 6 ‘Key Message’ training
modules in the order that best meets the Munch & Move training needs of your service.
What is the Munch & Move Staff Development Kit?
Each of the training modules follow the same structure:

the Munch & Move program into your service.

Each module will run for the times listed in the table below, with extra time needed to
complete the ‘Reflective Practice’ task or view the related Munch & Move resources on
the NSW Healthy Kids website.

At the end of each training module, complete the ‘Record of Completion’ to ensure you
have formally documented your service’s professional development. When you have
completed all modules provide this document to your Local Health District (LHD) Munch &
Move Support Officer for a Record of Completion Certificate.
