The President’s Report It has been my honor and pleasure to serve as the Staff Senate President for the past six months. Your Staff Senate is working diligently to improve the work lives for staff. We welcome your concerns and comments at all times. I would like to congratulate Lynn Fisher as the staff member of the game for the September 23rd, Boston College, game. Lynn has a vital position here at Clemson University as our Emergency Preparedness Coordinator. He is dedicated and forever looking out for our safety. Susan Kaplar was the staff member of the game for the October 7th, Wake Forest, game. Susan has been through the Staff Development Program and is the Business Manager for the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts. Congratulations to Lynn and Susan! Highlights from the October Staff Senate Meeting Minutes

Policy and Welfare: Five Year Goals (JoAnna Floyd):

• Work closely with HR to ensure transparency between HR and all Clemson University stakeholders regarding the drafting and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

• Assist HR in further development of supervisor training.

• Address managerial inconsistencies regarding staff members who volunteer for committees by promoting the creation of a University policy that allows for such service without time-related penalties (i.e. clocking out or personal leave).

• Continue to monitor the status of and promote the approval and implementation of the Child Care Initiative.

Ending TERI Webpage Launched; Services Provided by Clemson Benefits CounselorsThe Teacher and Employee Retention Incentive (TERI) program will close to all members June 30, 2018. Program participants with questions are encouraged to meet with a member of OHR’s Benefits unit. Call864-656-2000 or book an online appointment. Learn more on the Ending Your TERI participation webpage. The site has links to TERI publications and presentations, as well as forms needed for the ending-TERI process.

What: The Staff Senate Activities Committee is once again hosting a reception honoring our veterans(faulty, staff, and students)!

Where: The reception will be held during Military Appreciation Week at Military Heritage Plaza on Tuesday, November 14.

When: This celebration of service will be a drop-in from 9-11

Patriotic Pride: Clemson’s Veterans

COMING SOONA new university wide training management system will be available in late October.

The new training management system, Bridge, will help the university house, deliver and report all required training for faculty, staff and students.

PALMETTO SERIES FOOD AND FUNDS DRIVE

OCTOBER 23, 2017

Beat Carolina and Fight Hunger by supporting the Clemson Tigers in the Certified SC Grown Palmetto Series!

As part of the Palmetto Series, both schools are holding a food and funds drive to benefit Golden Harvest Food Bank and Harvest Hope Food Bank. The school with the most donations wins a point towards the Palmetto Series trophy. All donations help feed the 1 in 6 people suffering from hunger in South Carolina.

You can donate non-perishable food items or funds to help the Tigers win! Every dollar you donate provides $9 worth of food to the hungry in Upstate South Carolina; enough for 3 meals. DONATE HERE and DOWNLOAD OUR FLIER to help spread the word.

Cooper Library: Records Management WorkshopThis workshop provides an explanation of the audit process, the types of records examined by auditors, and how records management is part of the process. The workshop is intended for staff having records management responsibilities within offices and departments. The workshop will also review retention schedules and provisions of the South Carolina Records Act. Participants will have the opportunity to address issues of concern. Special guest is Cathy Tillett, Director of Internal Auditing.November 6th, 3:00pm-4:00pm. Cooper Library, Room 416

Green Zone Training is an initiative to support student veterans and educate the campus community. Green Zone Training provides faculty, staff, and students with an understanding of the military experience of student veterans as they transition from military to campus life.

The goals of Green Zone Training are to:

9 Understand who your student veterans are 9 Understand where they come from 9 Learn about the veteran experience in college 9 Learn what you can do to support your student veterans 9 Familiarize yourself with on- and off-campus veteran resources
