Stages of DevelopmentContents Page

Stage 1; Original Image

I started off with the original image and then decided to use it as my contents page main image. I used the magnetic lasso tool to cut out the image and stuck it on a plain white A4 sized background.

This is going to be my main focus of the contents page.

Stage 2; Editing Image

I decided to edit the image to make it stand out further as this is the main focus. I am still unsure on the black background, but I thought the it helps define the image.

Stage 3; Adding Subscription Bar

Page 3: Stages of development contents

I added an extra feature for the contents page, a bar that enables regular viewers to subscribe to the magazine in order to get a discount and the magazine posted to them.

Stage 4; Adding Background

I thought I should add a background with similar colours to the front page to keep the themes consistent. I used a picture I took of someone else to put into the background. I will then need to position the main focus over the person in the background or move to background image a bit.

I moved the main image right to cover the person in the background image so it seems as if the main image was taken in that background. The problem is, it doesn’t leave much space for the actual contents.

I added a black background to the subscription section and also facebook and twitter icons by the website to make it look more realistic.

Stage 5; Image Editing

I slightly pixelated the right hand contents main image to match the front cover and slightly unsaturated it to fit in with the background. I removed the stroke and outer glow to make it blend in with the background.

Stage 6; Adding content background and title

I added a black rectangle box where I will be adding the content text. I also created a title, following the style of VIBE magazine (see below). I added a white stroke to the title to make it stand out and made it see-thru to blend in with the background image.

Stage 7; Added Feature

I added a page 6 feature in the corner to show who the main image is and where the readers can find out more about him.

Stage 8; Change of Font Styles

I decided the Contents title would look better in white, so I changed the opacity of the white to 50% so the background image is still visible. I also changed the position of the contents title to suit the VIBE style. I put page 06 in see-thru as I believe this works better with the image.

Stage 9; Adding Content

A few minor adjustments were made as well as adding the content of the contents corresponding to the colour scheme. I also changed the position and colour scheme of ‘Pg.06’ which now fits in with the whole contents.

Stage 10; Blending

I made slight adjustments to the background so it would match the more yellow look of the front cover and also still have the burgundy theme.

I thought I should leave it here and then I got on with the double page spread.
