Stainless Steel remains the most popular medium for kitchen sink production. It’s not difficult to realise when you consider it’s main attributes:

Heat ResistantStainless Steel is highly heat resistant, so much so that hot pans straight from the stove canrest safely on the sink - a highly useful thing when juggling the pasta.

HygienicA totally non-porous surface is easy to keep clean and consequently more Hygienic.

Impact ResistantStainless Steel is the most forgiving material for impact and is the least likely material todamage your best china or glassware whilst remaining unscathed itself.

Bleach/ChloridesThese are found in almost all cleaning solutions and detergents and if left on the sinks forlong periods can be damaging. They are water soluble, however, if you rinse away residuesafter each use and a weekly clean with a stainless steel cleaner is all that is needed to keepyour sink looking bright and shiny.

ScratchesLike most metallic finishes, your stainless steel sink will scratch. Don’t worry, these are simply usage marks that will will eventually blend into the overall finish of the sink.

Water QualityThe quality of your water can affect the appearance of your sink. When water has a highiron content a brown stain can form on the surface giving the appearance of rust. Removemineral deposits and scaling by soaking in a solution of 3 parts hot water and 1 part whitevinegar, and then dry it with a soft cloth to prevent further limescale build-up.

Plastic Washing-up BowlsIt is not advisable to use a washing-up bowl as they tend to pick up grit particles and thebottom of the bowl can act like sandpaper leaving an area of concentrated tiny scratches.Instead try using a wire basket that are available with most models.

ount FrameThe Frame is an entirely new generation of kitchen sinkcreated and manufactured by the Teka Group from theirproduction centres in Norway and Sweden. The timeless design of the Frame series with its emphasis on form and function is typically Scandinavian in simplicity.

These sinks are made from 1.2mm steel and so have aparticularly robust feel, this sense of rigidity is strengthenedfurther by the incorporation of reinforcing under thedrainers.

Each sink is supplied with a series of accessories; matchingpop up waste control, soap dispenser, drain gratings andcustom made rinsing baskets. SinphoniaThe Sinphonia is a brand new concept forsinks, the design ethos is to close-off thesink when not in use providing an overallsense of order to the whole kitchen. The glass sliding boards, when in the closedposition, provide a calm unclutteredappearance and can hide the items queuingup for the dishwasher. The boards are alsointended for food preparation inconjunction with the suspended colanders.The linear design has also been extended tothe wastes which incorporate square coversconcealing the double pop-up strainerwastes adding extra stylistic refinement .

A new concept in washing is possible with the use of a low bowl divider - thismeans normal sized items can be washed in the bowl with a 108mm waterdepth and when larger items such as oven trays are to be cleaned - simply raisethe water level to fill both bowls. The low height wall also means that thecolanders can slide uninterrupted across the full width of the sink and remain inthe sink when the covers are closed.

The Vault Topmount from Kohler is available in two multi-bowl designs: with either offset or twin double bowls.Both of these are also available with either full heightbowl dividers or with a reduced height dividers (the new‘Smart Divide’ system explained below).A sound absorbing undercoat keeps the Vault sinks quietwhen in use and adds extra strength to the very durable1.2 mm stainless steel.

Icerock sinks give you the design flexibility youneed with the professional look of stainless steel.They are manufactured in 1.22mm stainless steel-the highest grade available for domestic sinks . A sound absorbing undercoat called Silentshieldis also applied to the underside of the bowls; thissharply decreases noises from dishes, runningwater and waste disposal units. Silentshield alsohelps reduce condensation and maintain watertemperature.
