stairwells – those forgotten places that connect one level of a space to the next.

Slip/falls account for 22 percent of the direct cost of disabling workplace injuries,

according to a study by a major liability insurance provider. That’s a total of about

$8 billion per year. And $3.5 billion of that total is a result of falls to lower levels.

In other words, slip/falls on stairwells or landings. And these staggering figures

don’t even include the indirect costs of lost productivity, increased administrative

time and legal fees.

So creating well-designed stairwells is a smart business decision. It’s also an easy
