COMPROMISE with wrong things, wrong times, wrong reasons and
it will cost you more than you imagine.

Genesis 1:26
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind
in our image, in our likeness, so that
they may rule over the fish in the sea
and the birds in the sky, over the
livestock and all the wild animals, and
over all the creatures that move along the
ground.”
Psalms 139:14
14 I praise you because I am fearfully
and wonderfully made; your works are
wonderful, I know that full well.
Ephesians 2:10
10 For we are God’s handiwork, created
in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to
do.
Philippians 3:3-4
3 For it is we who are the circumcision,
we who serve God by his Spirit, who
boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no
confidence in the flesh— 4 though I
myself have reasons for such confidence.
Philippians 3:7-8
7 But whatever were gains to me I now
consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8
What is more, I consider everything a
loss because of the surpassing worth
of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for
whose sake I have lost all things. I
consider them garbage, that I may
gain Christ
Romans 8:30 NLT
30 And having chosen them, he called
them to come to him. And having called
them, he gave them right standing
with himself. And having given them
right standing, he gave them his glory.
Daniel 1:8
8 But Daniel resolved not to defile
himself with the royal food and wine, and
he asked the chief official for permission
not to defile himself this way.
Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, inview of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as aliving sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—thisis your true and proper worship. 2 Do notconform to the pattern of this world, but betransformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve whatGod’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfectwill.
2 Corinthians 4:4
The god of this age has blinded the
minds of unbelievers, so that they
cannot see the light of the gospel that
displays the glory of Christ, who is the
image of God.
Ephesians 6:11-17
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that
you can take your stand against the
devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not
against flesh and blood, but against the
rulers, against the authorities, against the
powers of this dark world and against the
spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly
realms.
13 Therefore put on the full armor ofGod, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, tostand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt oftruth buckled around your waist, with thebreastplate of righteousness in place, 15
and with your feet fitted with the readinessthat comes from thegospel of peace. Ephesians 6:11-17
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield
of faith, with which you can extinguish all
the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take
the helmet of salvation and the sword of
the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:11-17
August Landmesser was a worker at the Blohm+ Voss shipyard in Hamburg, Germany, bestknown for his appearance in a photographrefusing to perform the Nazi salute at the launchof the naval training vessel Horst Wessel on 13June 1936. He had run afoul of the Nazi Partyover his unlawful relationship with Irma Eckler, aJewish woman. He was later imprisoned andeventually drafted into military service, where hewas killed in action; Eckler was sent to aconcentration camp where she was presumablykilled.
In 1934, Landmesser met Irma Eckler, a Jewishwoman, and the two fell deeply in love. Theirengagement a year later got him expelled fromthe party, and their marriage application wasdenied under the newly enacted NurembergLaws. They had a baby girl, Ingrid, in October ofthe same year, and two years later in 1937, thefamily made a failed attempt to flee to Denmark, where they were apprehended at the border.August was arrested and charged for “dishonoringthe race,” and briefly imprisoned.
In court, the two claimed to be unaware ofEckler’s Jewish status, as she had been baptizedin a Protestant church after her mother remarried. In May 1938, August was acquitted for lack ofevidence, but with a severe warning thatpunishment would follow if Landmesser daredrepeat the offense. Officials made “good” on theirword, as only a month later August would bearrested again and sentenced to hard labor forthirty months in a concentration camp. He wouldnever see his beloved wife again.
Meanwhile, a law was quietly passed that requiredthe arrest of Jewish wives in the case of a man“dishonoring the race,” and Irma was snatched upby the Gestapo and sent to various prisons andconcentration camps, where she would eventuallygive birth to Irene, Landmesser and Eckler’ssecond child.
Both children were initially sent to an orphanage, though Ingrid, spared a worse fate for her statusas “half cast,” was sent to live with her Aryangrandparents. Irene, however, would eventuallybe plucked from the orphanage and sent to thecamps, were a family acquaintance not to havegrabbed her and whisked her away to Austria forsafekeeping. Upon Irene’s return to Germany, shewould be hidden again–this time in a hospitalward where her Jewish identification card wouldbe “lost,” allowing her to live under the noses ofher oppressors until their defeat.
Their mother’s tale is much more tragic. As herdaughters were being bounced from orphanagesto foster homes to hiding places, Irma ultimatelymet her maker in 1942 in the gas chambers atBernburg. August would be released in 1941 andbegan work as a foreman. Two years later, as theGerman army became increasingly mired by itsdesperate circumstances, Landmesser would bedrafted into a penal infantry along with thousandsof other men. He would go missing in Croatiawhere it is presumed he died, six months beforeGermany would officially surrender.
The now-famous photograph was probably taken onJune 13th 1936, when Landmesser was working at theBlohm + Voss shipyard and still had a family to return toat the day’s end. During the unveiling of the new HorstVessel, workers were stunned to see the Fuhrer himselfin front of the ship. Landmesser likely found himselfincapable of saluting the very man who publiclydehumanized his wife and daughter, and scores ofothers just like them, only to go home and embracethem several hours later. Landmesser might havebeen casually aware of propaganda photographers inthe shipyard, but in that moment, his only thought wasof his family.
Daniel 1:6-7
6 Among those who were chosen were
some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah,
Mishael and Azariah. 7 The chief official
gave them new names: to Daniel, the
name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah,
Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to
Azariah, Abednego.
Daniel 1:12-15
12 “Please test your servants for ten days:
Give us nothing but vegetables to eat
and water to drink. 13 Then compare our
appearance with that of the young
men who eat the royal food, and treat
your servants in accordance with what
you see.” 14 So he agreed to this and
tested them for ten days.
Daniel 1:12-15
15 At the end of the ten days they looked
healthier and better nourished than
any of the young men who ate the
royal food.
We all have the tendency to stand out in the wrong way.
Don’t just make a protest----you have to plan and pray.
Daniel 1:19-20
19 The king talked with them, and he
found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah,
Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the
king’s service. 20 In every matter of
wisdom and understanding about
which the king questioned them, he
found them ten times better than all the
magicians and enchanters in his whole
kingdom.
