Hinge Mounting Configurations To accommodate the widerange of door/frameassemblies, hinges areavailable in four basicmounting configurations:• Full Mortise –

the standard configurationwith one hinge leafmortised, or recessed, inthe edge of the door, one inthe frame.

• Half Mortise – for jambs that do not allowmortising (e.g. channel ironframe) with one leafmortised in the door, oneapplied to the surface ofthe frame.

• Full Surface –for door/frame assembliesthat do not permit mortisingthe door edge or frame(e.g., hollow core door bychannel iron frame) withboth hinge leaves surfaceapplied.

• Half Surface – for doors that do not permitmortising (e.g., kalameindoor) door hinge leafsurface applied, and framehinge leaf mortised.

Special Applications Stanley offers several typesof hinges for specialconditions:

• Swing Clear Hinge –allows the door to swingcompletely clear of theopening, permitting barrier-free use of the entire dooropening (available in allfour mounting types).

• Pivot-Reinforced Hinge – helps prevent damage todoor and frame in high-abuse conditions (fullmortise only).

• Spring Hinge –adjustable power closesdoor to maintain security,fire rating, and environmentalcontrol.

• Concealed Hinge – allows clean appearanceby making the hingeinvisible when door isclosed (full mortise only).

• Raised Barrel Hinge – for deep inset doors.

• Wide Throw Hinge –wide leaves permit a doorto clear molding or otherprotrusions and swing open a full 180°.

• Electric Hinge –conducts power throughhinge for switching andmonitoring devices on the door, or for monitoringthe door position.

Stanley offers a wide variety ofhinges for special conditionsand applications. • 2060R Series Spring Hinge –

excellent for closing motel and apartment doors. Closing power is easily adjusted with an internal ratchet mechanism.

• Pivot Reinforced Hinge –prevents damage to frames and doors subjected to high winds or impact. Excellent for

use with overhead closers and holders.

• Swing Clear Hinge –permits door to swing completely out of the opening at 90° for barrier-free passage of people or equipment.

• Decorative Hardware –for distinctive design beyond the commercial requirement.

Stanley Heavy Duty DetentionHinges and Hardware maintainsecurity and safety whilecarrying the load of heavyprison doors without a creak of complaint. Tamper-proofconcealed wires transferelectrical power to locks,alarms and monitoring devices. • Prison Hinges – Available in

heavy gauge steel, stainless steel or cast stainless steel, feature concealed bearing assemblies designed to support doors of up to 2,000 pounds (906kg).

• Food Pass Hinges – for use on small doors within the cell door, with stop that holds the door open at 90° to form a shelf. Also available without stop for access panels and special doors.

• Cast Door Pulls – heavy dutycast manganese bronze pulls are applied with high security screws to preventremoval.
