Ideas to use with first grade ELA and Math game homework activity.

Materials to play: Find a game piece for each player (coins, game pieces, etc.) one or two dice, ELA or Math flash cards.

1.Each player selects a game piece and places it on start.2.Roll to see who goes first. 3.First player draws a flash card, reads, spells, or answers the math problem correctly before rolling the dice.4.Move your piece the number of spaces to match your dice. 5.If you land on + or – ; move your piece forward or backward the number in the space.6.If you land on free space; player rolls the dice and moves again.

Ideas for dice: You may use 1 die, 2 dice, a deck of cards (turn over the card and move the number on the card); use the dot cards sent home with your child; use flash cards + or – to 10 and move the number of your answer.

Flash card ideas: Heart words, flash words, math dot cards,Math + or – flash cards, make flash cards with sentences using heart words or flash words for your child to read. Have your child write a spelling word before each turn.
