NoteWhen moving the printer, carry the printer at both ends as shown below.

aPlacetheprinteronaflatandhorizontalsurface,anddonotplaceanyobjectsinfrontoftheprinter.PulluptheShippingtapeonthetopoftheprinter,andremoveittogetherwiththeProtectiveSheet.RemovealltherestoftheProtectiveSheets.

bOpen the Front Cover, then remove the Protective Material on the right side.

CautionBefore turning on the printer, remove all of the shipping tapes.

cClose the Front Cover.

1 Prepare the Printer

dPlugthepowercordinthebackoftheprinterandconnecttheotherendtothewalloutlet.

NoteDoNOTconnecttheUSBcableatthisstage.

ePress the POWERbuttontoturnontheprinter.Theprinterwillinitialize.WaituntilthePOWERlampstopsflashingandremainslit green.

fOpentheFrontCover.TheFINECartridgeHolderautomaticallymovestotheleft.

gWritedowntheserialnumberlocatedinsidetheprinter.Youwillneedthistoregisteryourproduct.

2 Install the FINE Cartridges

aRemovetheColorFINECartridgefromitsbox.

bRemovetheProtectiveTapegently.To the FINE Cartridge Holder

NoteDonottouchtheelectricalcontactsorPrintHeadNozzlesonaFINECartridge.Theprintermaynotprintoutproperlyifyoutouchit.DonotreattachtheProtectiveTapeonceyouhaveremovedit.BecarefulnottostainyourhandsorsurroundingworkareawithinkontheremovedProtective Tape.

c Insert the Color FINE Cartridge slightly slanted into the right slot C .

dPushuptheFINECartridgeuntilitclicksintoplace. Important

For correct printer operation, make sure the FINE Cartridge is secure in slots.

eRepeattheprocedurefortheBlackFINECartridge,insertingitintotheleftslot B .

f Close the Front Cover.

ImportantOnce you have installed the FINE Cartridges, the POWER lamp will flash green. Wait for about one to two minutes, until the POWER lamp stops flashing and remains lit green and the printer has stopped making operating noises, before proceeding.

Hardware setup is complete.

If you see the Found New Hardware Wizard, remove the USB cable. Click Cancel to quit the screen. Next, turn off the printer. Then proceed from step 3 to install the printer driver.

fReadtheLicenseAgreementcarefullyandclickYes. Follow theon-screeninstructionstoinstallthesoftware.Ifamessageaskingforyourconfirmationtorestartyourcomputerappears,clickOK.

g When the Printer Connection screen appears, connect one endoftheUSBcabletothecomputer,theothertotheprinter,then TURN THE PRINTER ON.Thesoftwarewillbeginidentifyingtheprinterportbeingused.

ImportantIf you cannot go to the next procedure after two minutes, refer to “Troubleshoot-ing” instructions in the User’s Guide on-screen manual.

h When the Print Head Alignment Recommended screen appears,clickNext.

i When the Installation Resultsscreenappears,clickNext.

j When the User Registrationscreenappears,clickRegister. Ifamessageaskingforyourconfirmationtorestartyourcomputerappears,clickOK.

k When the Installation completed successfully screen appears,clickExit.IfRestartisdisplayed,makesurethattheRestart the system now (recommended)checkboxisselected,thenclickRestart.
