SNACKS

PLEASE remember to sign your child’s yellow daily assignment

sheets everyday! It is important you check behavior

everyday! Also remember math homework everyday.

The yellow daily assignment sheet comes home

everyday. It will have your child’s behavior on it

everyday. Please check your child’s work and behavior

daily. Children get stars that they earn toward rewards when the yellow daily assignment

sheets are signed by parents everyday.

The yellow daily assignment sheet comes home on

Fridays with all work missing for the week, marked on the sheet or a certificate if all the

work is done, Work that is missing is due on Monday.

Behavior is marked with faces:

Homework

Homework is goes home on Monday and comes back on

Friday. It is normal for frustration to occur when

learning new responsibilities. Just be firm but always positive

and encouraging. The less homework they have at night.

We have a small snacks almost everyday. The children can choose to eat the snack the

teachers provide or say “No Thank You”. A parent is always welcome to send snack for their child daily if

they have special dietary restrictions or allergies. After the

2nd week of school we would appreciate parents contributing snack for our classroom, as the school does not provide snacks

but it helps the children concentrate. If your child needs a special diet of has allergies you are welcome to supply individual

snack for your child daily.

BUS POLICYThe school bus policy is that, if

a child is to be kept off the school bus, the office must be notified by the parent and the parent must pick up their child before the bus leaves for the

day. The office number is414-393-2700. The office must be notified before the child is kept off the bus. The teacher is notified after the office has

been informed.

story and are now working on the second story. Our theme is “Being Me” Each

theme comes with six stories. We will start the first story, “My Pal” that

says we need to be happy with who we are.

Please ask your child what happen in the story each

Language Arts We are learning about sentences: Statement,

Command, Question, and Exclamation. It’s hard for our students to understand, but we will continue to work on these types of sentences

throughout the whole year, along with other skills.

Writing. Science

Social Studies Health

We have new science and social studies text books this year.

There are sometime books kept in desks and sometime in a storage area. We use a lot of hands on

models in class to learn out content in these subject areas.

Spelling We are also using a

new spelling textbook this year. It’s a little different then our old one. The new book, gives students more practice using their new spelling words

along with integrating computer words and other subject words in the chapters.

1. Above Level2. Proficient3. Basic4. Need Improvement

We are using the “Write Source” book this year. We had just learned about the writing process. We did prewriting and this week we are going to do some writing together as well as independent writing. Our writing is graded on a 1 to 4 rubric.

Dear Parents and Guardians

This envelope contains books that belong to our classroom lending library. Our classroom library contains leveled books numbered 1,2,3,4. In the first month of the school year we will try to determine the right level for your child. Your child should be reading at least 20 minutes every day. Every time this book is returned in the envelope, with a parent signature, it will be returned with another book. These books apply to all the book incentive programs Parkview does during the year. If there is no parent signature the same book will be returned. The school does not supply the classroom with books so we are asking that you help maintain the books to the best of your ability and always keep them in their plastic pouches when not in use.

If your child cannot read out loud to you, have them read out loud to a sibling, a stuffed animal, a pet, or read out loud to you while you are doing house chores like washing the dishes, or doing laundry. Ask questions about the books your child reads. Characters, setting, what happened, what the problem was, how the problem was solved, etc. Always have your child try to sound out a word they do not know before telling them the word.

HAPPY READING
