Chapel is a refreshing way to start the day to get the campers thinking about how to better themselves and those around them.
MORNING CHAPEL
WISH BOAT CEREMONY
NIGHTLY DEVOTION
The wish boat ceremony is a tradition at YMCA Camp Wewa that has been around as long as the camp has been a part of the YMCA. The campers select a palm branch during the week and decorate it (usually with their name, cabin, session and other memorable items from their stay). On Thursday
night, all the campers bring their wish boat to the pool area and a candle is added to the top to be lit. While the candles are being lit, the campers are told that the boats represent a wish of their choosing.
Each night, a values story is told to have a moment of reflection and touch on the importance of bettering not only yourself, but each other.
