Current Computer Modeling Projects at IRF-Kiruna Uses software built on the public FLASH software from University of
Chicago. Parallel, adaptive grid. Handles fluid (MHD) and particle (hybridand DSMC) simulations. Uses the Akka cluster with 5376 cores at the HighPerformance Computing Center North (HPC2N) in Umeå
Hybrid model of Mars-solar wind interaction under development.
Will take part in the second ISSI meeting on Intercomparison of GlobalModels and Measurements of the Martian Plasma Environment
An XMM-Newton proposal for observing Mars in November 2009 hasbeen accepted. This will be the first time that the Mars-solar windinteraction is imaged in soft X-rays with simultaneous in-situ plasmameasurements (by ASPERA-3 on Mars Express). With upstreams conditions known, it will be possible to model the X-rayproduction
Moon hybrid modeling. Will be used to interpret the observations ofSARA on Chandrayaan-1.
