Survey for Magazine and Music Statistics

For my own music magazine, I am planning to aim it for a younger audience of people who have an average age of 16-

20 years old.

For this, I needed to survey people of this age in order to find out what they like and don’t like about music,

Magazines and music formats.

I used the website www.surveymonkey.com to create a survey

and asked people between the ages of 16 to 20 to complete and then used the data to get the information I

needed.

It was found that 66.7% of people in my survey do not download music illegally and 33.3% do download

music illegally.I find this very surprising as there are many websites that offer free music which sounds much more appealing than buying music for

expensive prices which are charged nowadays.

My results show me that music magazines aren’t currently very popular. For my magazine, I may

have to add lures such as freebies and more interesting articles as this will make it more

interesting to look at.

I’m very surprised that ITunes is not the most popular website for listening to music,

although I’m not surprised that Youtube is as it is free for listening to music and also includes the Music videos which is more

interesting.I am also surprised about the amount of

people who illegally download music as it is very much in the spotlight at the moment

and is obviously disliked by popular Artists.

All in all, these results have helped me decide on a layout and design which is

modern, colourful, and full of interesting content and freebies in order to appeal to my

target audience.
