BEWARE INFERIORITY COMPLEX An evidence that State College considers its own
influence and the benefits of association with other inst i tut ions and organizat ions is seen in its representashytion at the various conventions and congresses which are held dur ing the school year The value of these meet ings is untold
Leaders arc prone to think that their problems are unusually difficultmdashsomething peculiar to their part icshyular situation Th i s leads to discouragement and finally to despair They pity themselves and develop an inferiority complex about their work ( gtn the other hand an organizat ion may lie doing very well It has success in what it docs and there fore its leaders may get a remarkable opinion of their own ability and imshyportance The danger of this alt i tude can be seen in the fact that in such supreme self satisfaction an effort is not put forth to do even greater things
A survey of other groups engaged in similiar work is the very best cure for both of these at t i tudes It will then be seen that the same successes and achievements the same problems and difficulties are universal For the despondent sympathy and help are available For the successful a desire to surpass I he other groups likewise successfulmdashis stimulated A feeling of warmth and unders tanding is fell for oilier colleees an a tmosshyphere of good fellowship fostered
When a college is included in llie aclivities of an national organizat ion when its support is sought in the big under takings of the national group the college has a feeling of being in t i l ings and of being a part of the whole
Many of State s graduates and faculty members arc part icipat ing in the various conventions held ihis week til several distr icts

Camel For The New Biology Student Alone Charlie Darwin was a quiet old fellow who demonshy
strated the fact of evolution ten years after the Calishyfornia Cold Rush So far so good Then Charle offered an explanation of evolutionmdashinheritance of ar-quired character is ts (pangenesis) and survival of the fittest So far so good Along came Weismann Not so good Weismann performed a classic experiment which knocked Darwins explanation into a cocked hat
This experiment is to be explained by the best bioshygraphical methods of the twentieth century It is only understood afler one has probed into the childhood years of A Weismann On his fourth bir thday August threw a party The re is no doubt whatever that August had a fourth bi r thdaymdashthere is considerable doubt that he threw a party but never mind A hilarious time was enjoyed until the host playfully heaved his marsh mellow cake at the prettiest girl present August was spanked and put to bed T h e parly was not disrupted on the contrary the children clamored for a game They chose a gory game with plenty of action August lay quivering on his bed and heard shrill voices cry
Three blind mice three blind mice See how they run see how they run They all run after the farmers wife She cuts off their tails with a butcher knife Did you ever see such a sight in your life As three blind mice (let this into your head August Weismann s ardent
desire to play Three Blind Mice was forcibly sun pressed This desire bay fermenting and s teaming in bis mind for years as silent as the sneeze of an angel-Now I am going lo use a favorite trick of the movies and get rid of a lot of work by changing the scene to Many years later Weismann is an eminent biologist ready for his classic experiment He sneakes into a farmers kitchen swipes the good wifes butcher knife and dashes to his laboratory Ready caniciars shoot Slice slice off come the tails of twenty- two generat ions of mice at birth 1592 mice are deeaudal ized and the tail of the last is as long as fust And that Jasper is how Weismann knocked Darwin s head dress into a cocked hat and why he forever afler pre ferred mouse-tail lo ox-lail soup Some Talc I

Weismann is known as a biological giant bin beside Maximilien Marie Robespierre he looks likes a callow Paramecium Robespierre was not contenl to work on the Lilliputian scale decaudalizing mice no Sir He undertook more noble work deeephalizing homo sapiens Robespierre dislained the butcher knife and chose the guillotine Zip zip off came their heads drip drip Unfortunately Robespierre ran short ol material The few rcniainicg Frenchmen unsport ing) decephalized Robespierre Frightful clay The most ambit ious experiment of all lime failed for Roby kcpl all his data in his head instead of in a notebook

Not a few of the organizat ions associations anil clubs of State College lake part in national affairs

Three blind mice three blind mice See how they run see how they run They all run after the farmers wife She cuts off their tails with a butcher knife Did you ever see such a sight in your life As three blind mice (let this into your head August Weismann s ardent
desire to play Three Blind Mice was forcibly sun pressed This desire bay fermenting and s teaming in bis mind for years as silent as the sneeze of an angel-Now I am going lo use a favorite trick of the movies and get rid of a lot of work by changing the scene to Many years later Weismann is an eminent biologist ready for his classic experiment He sneakes into a farmers kitchen swipes the good wifes butcher knife and dashes to his laboratory Ready caniciars shoot Slice slice off come the tails of twenty- two generat ions of mice at birth 1592 mice are deeaudal ized and the tail of the last is as long as fust And that Jasper is how Weismann knocked Darwin s head dress into a cocked hat and why he forever afler pre ferred mouse-tail lo ox-lail soup Some Talc I
Camel
All of which is a round about way of telling you how to get through every Biology course Keep a notebook
