LUHS was Identified as the REGION 2 “Spirit of Excellence”
Award… Student Council Association Commended this Award
onto LUHS!!!
Saturday, Feb 5, 800 students/advisers where in our Facilities for the FBLA Regional Leadership Competition –
Ms. Woodie and our FBLA group did a wonderful job hosting this event!!
On Friday, April 15th, 2011, LUHS Forensics participants competed at the WHSFA State Speech Festival. All students except 1 qualified for the state meet. Moreover, also note
that those that did travel to Madison earned a medal in their respective category of competition:4 students earned bronze medals8 students earned silver medals
and 1 student earned a gold medal; and a Critic's Choice Award
at the State Meeting in Madison.
June of 2010 that were distributed during our day of volunteer at a school in need in Costa Rica. During this day of volunteering, we were involved with the following activities:
a) Picking up of Garbage around the schoolb) Cleaning of the school groundsc) Painting the walls and ceilings of a dilapidated
classroomd) Painting an educationally themed mural on the
walls of the schoole) Distributing of school supplies to many children in
needf) Practicing our Spanish with the school children!
FBLA: Hosted the Region II Competition at LUHS… over 800 students were in attendance to compete for Region II awards…
DECA: 125 Members. 22 students earned Leadership Certificates. * District II DECA Competition: FIVE District Champs, TWO 2nd Place finishers, TWO 3rd Place Finishers. STATE DECA: ONE First Place, TWO 3rd Place Finishers… INTERNATIONAL DECA Competition: Three participated and one earned top 20 honors – DECA Raised and Donated $6,500…
Lakeland's Mock Trial team, for the first time in its history, made it to state and placed 7th. It was a historic and significant accomplishment for the participating kids and LUHS.
Student Council – Continues to do Fundraising for CAUSES!!!

$2056.29 Donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Foundation Mr. T-Bird Pageant)
$1067 Donated to the Steve Waldburger Family (Lip Sync)
Science Olympiad’s Inaugural Year – We had 40 members and this group ended Up 18th out of 50 at the State Competition…

Nordic Ski- Boys’ and Girls’ both 4th place at the State; One Individual State Champion

Academic Learning LABSExpectations for
Academic Learning LABS:
Academic Enhancement will provide students with an enhanced opportunity to improve their academic standing at LUHS,
Academic Enhancement will provide students with a link to academic support in class subjects outside Math and English areas,
Academic Enhancement will provide students basic Technology skills such as word processing, performing searches for research and utilizing presentation software,
Academic Enhancement will provide students with a resource for helping with the review, proofing and editing of assignments, papers and projects.
Job Description for the Teacher:
Review the academic status of a referred student,Formulate a plan for academic improvement with the student, Provide daily guidance for the student to implement the academic improvement plan,Review academic progress weekly through PowerSchool,Deliver to students a basic curriculum on study skills and technology utilization,Provide consistent communication to parents/guardians regarding positive and negative progress of the students,Provide updates to the teachers of these students so everyone is connected,Connect students with appropriate resources within LUHS if unable to provide assistance in any specific area of study.
Accountability for Student Progress:
• Print class progress detailed reports for
all students referred to Academic Enhancement, and compare these with the same reports generated at “Data Points” throughout the quarter, semester and school year,
• Review attendance data throughout the course of the quarter, semester and school year,
• Review discipline log data throughout the course of the quarter, semester and school year,
• Review credit summary to monitor whether student is on pace for graduation from LUHS,
